Hi
Can somebody recommend a decent green deal approved installer in the Wiltshire/Hampshire area. I'm looking to get a condensing boiler fitted to replace electric storage heaters but it seems every company I go to are quoting pretty extortionate prices - British Gas £6,800, other local green deal approved companies £6,300. To me it seems that Green Deal approved installers uses the new scheme as a reason to add £1,000 to the quote price.
Any help much appreciated.0 -
From Friday 25th July the amount available for external solid wall insulation is being reduced from £6,000 to £4,000.

I'm trying to get some quotes in by Thursday so that I can make my application for the voucher. Thus far the price seems to range £90 to £100 (ex VAT) per square meter and I've got 132 square meters to cover, am hoping there will be room to negotiate (I'm terrible at negotiating)0 -
Hi
I previously had a quote of £1500 to replace my combi with a new one in same position. I have also seen similar prices online today. Existing boiler is Ferolli F30 which I believe is D rated at 78% efficiency. Boiler is about 10 years old, pressure fluctuates as something wrong with it but still works although the on/off ignition switch has snapped off so has to be reignited with a screw driver in the missing switch hole (fortunately I have only had to do this once)!
I am based in Nuneaton Warwickshire if that's relevant.
I have the following questions if anyone can assist -
1) Will change from D rated to A rated boiler mean I qualify for green deal cash back?
2) Green Deal keeps referring to two improvements will get up to £1000 cash back. Can you get the full £1000 for just one improvement or must there be two?
3) Is a green deal registered installer likely to quote at £1500 today for swapping boilers or are they likely to charge more for some reason?
Thanks for your help. I don't want to pay for the assessment to find out I don't qualify or it will cost more in total than the £1500 net price already quoted.

See above you have to have 2 of the list of 12, the best option is to get a boiler and flue gas hear recovery.
Ferolli don't make a flue gas heat recovery, so you will be looking at a vaillant, glow-worm or ideal.
Ideal is prob the cheapest, vaillant prob the best value.
You should be looking at around £2500 for the vaillant with flue gas heat recovery then you get the cashback so end cost around £1500.
So end cost is £100 less for a better boiler."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
Makes sense, thanks for your valuable input.0

I have been trying to get quotes from a green deal registered installers using the home improvement cash back deal. I need a new boiler with heat recovery flue. This morning the people I am speaking to are telling me that as of 05 August 2014 the rules are changing and I can no longer have the heat recovery flue as my second efficiency improving measure.
Can anyone confirm or supply more details on this. One guy suggested I could try and get the survey done and voucher issued before the deadline and it will be valid for 6 months to get it installed. Another said it has to be installed by this deadline which is not realistic given its a week from next Monday.
Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks.0 -

I have just started looking today, stupid me leaving everything to the last minute. Got someone coming out on Monday to give me a quote, and just waiting to hear from an assessor for when they can come out. It might be a bit tight
Make sure you apply asap. They have closed applications today for the reduction in the swi cashback 5 hours early than they said they would"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
Buying a house, the boiler is 25+ years old. Old immersion heater type etc. Its not a back boiler, instead its floor mounted in the dining room, it makes a nice corner unit. The cost to replace to a Combi is probably somewhat £1800 ishy. If the energy savings are £50 a year, it will take me 36 years to break even, and by then I need another new boiler.
Home Improvement Fund...really hard to understand...0
