  • Is this scheme still open to new applicants?

The reason I ask is because the cashback website says (when clicking the "apply for cashback" button):

    Source: https:// gdcashback . decc . gov . uk

Or is this something different and I'm looking at the wrong Green Deal scheme?

    Green Deal Cashback has ended,

The current scheme is the Home Improvement Fund

  • I am a GDI for boilers with flue gas heat recovery and we certainly will fit them for £2400 inc vat. That is our top price. Jonson Starley make a combined boiler and Flue Gas recovery system. This we can fit for around 2k. We have in house people for EPC and GDAR so can even arrange those. This is the easiest Green Deal offer to sort out I have ever dealt with.
  • If it is just a boiler swap, which it must be if he has quoted £1600 i can grantee you will be able to get a GDI to install Vaillant + Vaillant recoFlue for £2400 inc VAT and get the £1000 cashback so an end cost of £1400 so its works out cheaper and you are getting more for your money! Seems a no brainier!

Or a ideal logic code for £2000 so works out even cheaper

you may say that... But the reality is, I contacted every Green Deal Provider in the area, few of them got back to me and those that did quoted between £3.5 and 4.5k...

It's ok to say what should happen, theoretically, but in reality it's proved to be a different matter.

And no, it wasn't a straight swap, it was a back boiler to a combi.

You don't need to replace the entire window if a seal is gone in it. Are you referring to the seal on the glazing unit or the gasket between the window and frame? In most cases the former is not that expensive and the latter can be DIY'd.

For the boiler, if you cannot afford the capital cost then you can get it on the Green Deal as discussed many times in this thread.

But you can't as it is a cartel of dodgy assessors, providers and installers that crawled out of the woodwork when Green Deal was first touted. They take your money then never contact you again.

There is a deal to help you if you bothered to look

You would actually get more towards a new boiler on the home improvement fund ( not means tested) than you would on HHCRO (means tested) at the moment so worth taking advantage of.

You can get 1000 cashback for a new boiler and flue gas heat recovery. The problem with your Windows is a very easy fix, maybe worth reading before you start moaning.

And LEEUK you can get competitive qotes from green deal companies, as it is a very competitive market giving consumers better value for money than non green deal companies.

1600 for a back boiler to a combi is a very unrealistic quote, 3-4k would be typical. That guy must be working for nothing to quote that low. Don't be surprised if he comes back half way through the job asking for more money

I'd be very surprised... the boiler is fitted, up and running, and working well! :D

It clearly isn't unrealistic to fit boilers at those prices and make a living, as the same guy fitted my dad's boiler a few years ago, and is now about to fit my neighbour's boiler - he is very busy and seems to be making a good living.

Personally, I think the £3.5k - 4.5K quotes were the unrealistic ones!

He must be cutting corners to be making a good living at those prices.
