I can't get the Green Deal because my energy supplier is OVO who are not part of the scheme according to their response to my question on facebook:We aren't at the moment but it is something we are considering for the future.
I would have to leave them (paying the exit penalty, £30 per fuel) and join another energy company which is part of the scheme.0 -
You dont have to use a energy provider you can go through the tons of companies that do green deal

Maybe I am misunderstanding something about how the scheme works but then how do they collect the loan payments - I thought it was through your electric bill?0 -
It's a bribe. You have to pay them to recommend the bits you want, that's a bribe. Makes the whole framework and training a farce.
Despicable behaviour.
Since the assessors likely work for a company, they will get paid either way.
Or are the companies telling their assessors not to bother?
It is not a bribe at all you clearly don't understand how the assessments work.
Most assessors are subcontractors who sub for loads of different companies, and will operate within the rules of the schemeand will put the amount of effort in that company is paying them for that job.
It's like anything you get what you pay for whether it's a solicitor, accountant a builder gas engineer or an energy assessor the person can do the bare minimum or go beyond what is required."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
The Assessments
- 163,096 were lodged up to the end of February 2014
- up [18%] from 145,098 at end of January 2014
The Plans
- only 1,754 households had Green Deal Plans in progress at the end of February 2014
- compared to 1,721 at the end of January 2014
- of these, 445 were ‘new’, another 426 had moved to ‘pending’ [Plan signed]
- only 883 were ‘live’, meaning all measures were installed
- about half of all plans only started from this June onwards
- about 98% of all plans were delivered through ECO funding
- 33% were for cavity wall insulation end of January 2014
- 32% were for boiler upgrades end of January 2014
- 23% were for loft insulation end of January 2014
- all SWI types accounted for only 5% end of January 2014
- a GD plan is after a customer has obtained a quote and confirmed they wish to proceed
- a pending GD is when a GD plan has been signed by the customer, and the plan is being finalised so that charging can start
- a live GD is after all the measures are installed and the costs are attached to the plan and the bill payers / suppliers bill the GD chargesDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. The green deal is much more than a finance deal, it is a range of incentives to make your home more energy efficient and it's success for some reason is only been measured by how many people are having a green deal plan.
Where as it's success should be measured by how many people are making their homes more energy efficient which is the whole purpose of the scheme and it is succeeding in that.
For example the home improvement fund is leading to loads of households to have solid wall insulation which have never considered it before. And people are adding a gas flue heat recovery onto their boilers who would never even consider doing it. All of which is making their homes more efficient the whole purpose of the scheme."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Loads is not a unit of measure. Lets see a source of the actual number please.

That has information on the GDHIF application data, all these applications have been done by the customer after agreeing with a company to do the work.
6645 applications received, 4405 vouchers issued, and total value of issued vouchers £25,136,800.00 in just four weeks.
The average voucher value is £5,700.00 so this suggests the majority is solid wall insulation."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
The only measure of success [any type] are those evidence based completed [new heating system / insulation / SWI / replacement glazing etc] plans. That is after all the measures are installed and the costs are attached to the plan and the bill payers are charged for, and paying / paid for the work. Anything other than completed plans are just different stages of earnings for the industry. A [live GD] completed Green Deal is the measure of success.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. That would be true if the end goal was to generate as many green deal plans as possible which it is not, the end goal is to improve the energy efficiency of people's households which it is doing.
The green deal is not just about green deal plans which you seem to think, it is about reducing people's energy consumption through various means. one of which is a green deal plan.
The green deal is an umbrella which covers different incentives, one of which is the option of a green deal plan and that is the only one people talk about when they are measuring success."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0
