You ought to go down to your local market. I used to live a minute walk from Walthamstow Market, one of the biggest in the country, and there used continual brilliant value for money across the board in fruit and veg. For example, I remember getting 14 carrots for 50p, or 10 Granny Smith apples for a pound. Also once, eight fresh figs for a £1 - I think at the time, the local Sainsburys was charging £2 for 4, so definitely a bargain! :T
Seriously have a look in the local market - will 99% of the time be MUCH MUCH cheaper for fruit and veg. It's a shame now that I don't live anywhere near a market that does fruit and veg.0 -

Very very few markets of the variety you mean here in Northern Ireland , and those we do have are weekly or monthly
The only ethnic shops within 40 miles of me are polish
Unless its carrots and spuds bought from the van at the side of the road, very little lee way on fruit and veg
For me it's lunch if we are out or having a sandwich, but dinner if its cooked in the house0 -
