Ninth Anniversary 100 Posts Combo Breaker
Hi all, just todays posts have been funny to read, i'm glad everyone seems to be having a better week!

Rosemary - hope you have a lovely holiday, i'd kill for some sun atm! :)

Ems - congrats on sorting out your housing problem, hopefully you'll get your heating sorted soon and ditch the poor man baths :rotfl:

And to everyone else who needs it: things will look up soon! Don't let the smiles disappear

Still OT, but i'm having a great end to the week! Finally after working at the same shop for 3 years i got more hours on my contract :) It's only 6 more, but with a baby now i needed more than my previous minimum, so financially i can relax a little for now :)

No UUs/TAs/OUTs to report, although i have half a bottle of baby wash left with another not long opened, so shall use this up first. As i said last night i listed 4 items (2 lots of 2) on ebay last night, although i won't hold my breath for them selling...I bet ebay has had a massive surge of toiletries added this weekend thanks to us lot ;) haha. Happy sunday everyone!
  • glad you are winning the battle emsjune

I have painted my nails with a silver magnetic nail polish from nails inc that I bought probably 1 year ago - it's very nice. As I am very fidgety I had to sit and watch films whilst all the layers dried. I now have my eye on more magnetic nail polishes - but my list of 45 odd in my stash is putting me off! that's a good reason to do more listing :)
  • Evening ladies,

Uu 'this works' firming body lotion, this is excellent as a moisturizer and a little goes a long way, the only thing is the scent is quite unusual and takes some getting used to, that said I probably wnba as there are many cheaper moisturizers which do just as good a job.

    Happy pampering, xo

Another vote for RT brushes! The No7 ones are decent too, with vouchers.

I have an exciting freebie IN! I entered a blog giveaway and won the NAKED Basics palette! :T It arrived today and looks great.

    Fab prize Skyllo.

Hi ladies, have only just caught up on this week and it's cheered me up no end reading your thoughts and reviews so thanks :) Big hello to new posters, seriously cannot recommend this thread enough, don't be afraid to post like I was everyone here is so friendly and it has really helped me think before purchasing.

Had an awful week with a car crash that wrote off my car and worse still it had 1/2 a tank of petrol in it! Not impressed especially since I had set aside some money for shopping with my friend today but I still got a few sneaky INS.

INS from today Aveeno moisturising cream, I'm sure I've had this before and wanted something to help my eczema and dry skin in between using steroids, or ideally to steer clear of them. Unfortunately they didn't have a facial one in store. A Max Factor nail varnish in a pretty purple shade - will post the name later and some Garnier Soft Essentials face wipes, don't use face wipes often but sometimes do if I've got eyeliner and mascara on. Hopefully these won't react with my skin.

A few outs: Lush H'Suan hair mask full size. I got this for free (always good) but I really wasn't impressed. It didn't do anything noticeable to my hair so WNBA. Dove Original deodorant, I only bought this because I was desperate and the shop had this or a men's one but it was great. No white marks, lasted relatively well and did the job so WBA.

To cheer myself up after my crash I treated myself to an OPI gel manicure and pedicure which I've wanted to try for ages (they had a great offer on that day which was both for £29). I had Lincoln Park After Dark on my fingers although it's so, so much lighter than the nail varnish. It's more of a grape shade. Has anyone else experienced this?

Going to have a pamper tonight as OH is going out. Happy Saturday everyone. Has anyone got any plans for tonight?

CharlotteK - Glad to hear you are ok, remember you being unhurt is much more important than half a tank of fuel.

Great news emsjune78 - Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer for your final outcome.

    Have a lovely time Rosemary.

I have had a very expensive day. Had to fork out for two new tyres and paid the remaining balance of my holiday.

Did pick up a couple of things in the B**ts clearance. Champneys eye cream roller for £2.50- bought one for me and one for my mum. Got to the checkout and it was still on 3 for 2. Lucky me :). Also picked up Olay Total Effects Moisturiser + ake Up Wonder for £3.99. Also picked up a naughty nail polish No7 Chaperone for 50p.

Posted completed OT posting and completely forgot about the on-topic one.

I have shortish, fine hair that is darkish brown naturally with a few greys in fringe and at temples. That colour is a bit ageing, so I use a med. brown colour to dye and lift it.
There always seems to be too much product for my little mop when I apply it and it often makes a heck of a mess.

When I used Clairol Foam in 2010 ( x 1000 ) I spent the entire development time desperately trying to clean the colour up from where it had flown all over the bathroom and ruined the cream bath mat.

Wilko's own brand at £1 in med. brown suits me fine colourwise - it's just like the dyes of 30 years ago with a 30 min development time, a tube of colour and a bottle of developer with a nozzle to cut off for application.

I bought a dye-mix bowl and set of combs/application brushes (from Poundworld) and carefully emptied half the developer and half the colour in to the bowl to do my roots today. The tube and bottle tops were carefully and quickly resealed including the foil cap for the colour, to keep the remaining contents fresh for another use in 6-8 weeks.

    It's worked like a charm.
I did have a Clairol roots brush from buying the roots touch up kits some years ago but the pound shop brushes (like the dyes) are fine, and wider too, for easier application.

So for 50p today, :money: I've coloured my hair and with far less mess and fuss than usual.

    [QUOTE=vic.

I hope everyone's having a good night? I listed several items on facebook earlier to sell - and 4 s&g items on ebay. I managed to sell 5 boxes of hair dye for what i paid for them, although they are not counted in my stash total. Pleased though as in my signature, i'm on a mission to make some extra dough  Hope you all enjoy the rest of the evening![/QUOTE

Oooohh I like the sound of the Facebook buy and sell page, what's the name of the group. Maybe I could sell some items that way :)

  • Phew, much skimming through later and I've caught up in a fashion, there are lots of post I'd have liked to have commented on but I've kind of missed the boat :o I intend to be more attentive now as I do love this thread, its so nice and not just about toiletries really :)

Feb has been a slow month for me challenge wise with one thing and another but do have the following UU to declare:

VO5 Gloss Me Smoothly Shampoo - thanks to VALM for the VO5 recommendation, this is a fab shampoo at a bargain price and quite often on offer or available in HB even cheaper to boot. Keeps my fine flyaway hair fairly under control :) A big thumbs up! Also bottle design is good so no need for cutting up, can just be stood on its head when its getting light.

Sanctuary Brightening Eye Gel - this was nice and cooling, it was a small sample sized tube which would have been UU very quickly if I hadn't have decanted into a pot as the opening to the tube was ridiculously large and even if you were careful far too much came out! Not sure if this would be an issue on the full size tube. Was very kind to puffy eyes WBA

Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth - This is a body butter but was a small tube so decided to use it as a hand cream in work - worked much better than a lot of actual hand creams I've had and definitely Hand Food! Less sickly than a lot of S&G fragrances - smells the same as Mist You Madly which I like, very rich and moisturising without being sticky and perfect as hand cream. One of the few S&G products I'd BA at this point.

No. 7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream - This is a GA to my mum, had a slight reaction to this build up - reddening and sensitivity and dryness on face and neck. I do have problems with quite a few No. 7 products but interestingly not the serums which I like but I know cause a lot of people problems. My skin is fairly sensitive and its not very unusual for me to have a reaction but I'm fine with most things. To be honest, I think stress has played a part in the breakout but do think this has irritated my skin. I'm ok-ish with the day cream but WNBA - I seem to be better with their more basic Essential Moisture - Can't use the P&P day and night creams (latter particularly) either.

One tiny IN also - only as I need hair dye and the conditioner comes with - L'Oreal Preference (never count the dye as its always and in and out job - most I ever stash is one if its two for so much on offer)

How is everyone finding the L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil that's tried it? I wanted to love it, the reviews are great but it doesn't get on with my fine flyaway hair at all. Such as shame as it smells gorgeous but does nothing to tame it and it certainly didn't deliver the silky mane I was hoping for (silk purse and sow's ear spring to mind... :o) Have put it up to swap on FB group
  • UU TBS Shea Whip body lotion WNBA used for shaving my legs.

UU renu age defy shampoo and pretreat conditioner WBA made my hair feel thicker.

UU Philosophy Amazing Grace WBA lovely stuff and smells gorgeous!

I have thick medium length hair. First time I used it I squirted too much out of the sachet and the next day I looked like I had rats tails as my hair looked soooo greasy !! :rotfl: Used much less this morning and so far so good - I love the shine and it doesn't irritate my face where the ends of my hair brush against it. :T

Another UU - Aveeno daily moisurising lotion lavender aroma 200ml. Didn't really notice the lavender smell, I use Aveeno when my skin is particularly dry as I find it moisturises really well and doesn't irritate - one of my HG products!

By the way, and completely OT, does anyone here suffer from IBS and have they tried the paleo/stone age diet as a means to alleviate the symptoms? Did it help at all?
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
  • Evening ladies

I finally have a UU for February - BS Japanese Cherry Blossom body butter - WBA if it wasn't for the mountain of body lotions and butters I have already! I think I have 7 full size body butters in the stash and I don't get through them very quickly because I hate feeling sticky :rotfl:
Loved the smell of this and handily I only have a couple of uses left in my L'Occitane cherry blossom shower gel I was matching this up with so won't have to clash my fragrances!

One small In, not entirely necessary but I won't feel guilty about it because the alternatives in my stash are rubbish!
M&S Autograph range nail base coat, I only have Avon base coats at the moment and I don't like any of them. One stains my nails orange  which defeats the purpose of a base coat at all (actually I will throw this out next time I find it), one has a tiny bit left so goes on all gloopy and the other peeled off the ends of my nails the same evening I put it on, before I had even put colour on them.
It's no wonder my nail colour doesn't last! I'll use up the rubbish ones on my toes because they are a lot more forgiving of my crappy products (and further away so I can't see them :D)

Can't believe the weekend is over already, I'm sure time speeds up on a Friday night!
