Grrr, just had the phonecall - presumably to set up the telephone banking. I am still astounded when a financial institution phones up 'out of the blue' and expects you to give them security information! Needless to say I declined, and he very quickly offered to write instead.0

Please all be aware that according to the T&C's, you will be credit checked when opening this account, and a record will be made.
Just thought I'd let you all know, in case you're cleaning up your file
these kind of credit checks don't do any harm. They just check your idendity. (to detect frand, money laundering...)
It's not going to reduce your score.0 -

It's obviously your calls that I keep getting then!0 -
Quick question from a noob..my first post
Hello, by the way!
Just trying to complete the Tesco application form online where its asking about proof of ID. Seeing as I live with my partner, I don't have alot of the required forms in my own name/address
One of the suggestions though is "Inland Revenue Tax Notification". I don't have this but I do have a Tax Return form, which shows my name and address... Do you think that would be accepted? Otherwise, I'm stuffed and can't apply
Worth a try? Maybe I should call them instead..... Anyone have any thoughts? Cheers 0 -

I took a Tesco account out last year when they had the same offer, bagged the points and closed the account. Do you think they will mind/stop me if I do exactly the same again?
...bump...
Anyone who applied/got points/closed account last year applied again this year? have look through all their terms and conditions and it doesn't give any indication of repeat applicants being rejected, so I suppose theres no harm in me opening one again0 -
Just tried to apply and printed out the forms which all appear to be in code, a sort of Polish type script!0

No - just leave the place blank and move on through the application.0 -

I have had a savings account with Tesco for years and thoroughly recommend them. Calling you to set up details is much more secure then setting them up via post when anyone could intercept the letter. It only takes 2 mins and you dont have to give them any of your existing information - I just had to choose a random 4-digit number and a password (I chose one I dont use anywhere else) and so its perfectly safe. Setting up these details actually SAVES time - it means you can close the account over the phone in the future- without telephone banking you need to write to them for everything (account closure, bank transfers, card activations etc.) They may not have the best interest rate but sometimes I think good customer service is just as important.
I called both Tesco Personal Finance and Tesco clubcard (they are different departments) and both confirmed that it is only one set of 1000 clubcard points per household.
Oh yes, and they have NEVER tried to sell be anything. I say top marks to Mr T!!0
