Your pride is hurt is all. The course is probably one hour a week or so. It won't kill you and nobody there cares that you can do it already. Nobody is judging you, it's simply paperwork.

I think that you may be confusing literacy and numeracy courses for people who can't read etc with the Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy courses which are equivalent to English and Maths O level/GCSE grade C.

As you don't seem to have these qualifications at the moment, you may well find many of your applications binned, so it is quite a sensible course for you to be referred to.

    I care.

I care because my taxes are being spent on a pointless exercise of moving people around a useless system who may end up in a meaningless job, and the policymakers can shout about increased employment, more people in training, targets, shmargets and so on. All of this happening while we demonise those out of work, and reward those able to leverage the tax scams.

I'm also angry that the system cares so little about delivering a valuable service to job seekers that it operates a shoddy recruitment service itself, as evidenced by many who work in the job centre and follow this by poor training. But then never mind, JCP will be run by Serco soon (if it's not already).

Think you may have missed "that" out of the beginning part of that sentence there tortoise, ever considered a literacy course;)

My pride was hurt when I found out I no longer had a job mate, no other time:)

excuse me while I laugh out loud, applications binned because I don't have a Maths or English O level:rotfl:

In 34 years I have never been asked about a qualification from school, I have 34 years experience in my chosen Industry, of which I've only been unemployed from for 12 days!!!
For the last 13 years I've looked at extremely complicated design & spec drawings and had to tell other people how to build from them, plus show possible improvements to them, as well as draught drawings myself.

Tell me again how this total waste of my time will help.

I remind you I'm trying to start my business up again, after it was wound up in 2009.
Could my time be not be better spent on this??

OK, you know better than everybody else, whether it's those whose job it is to help you or those of us who are doing it just out of kindness.

I hope you come over better in interviews than you do on here or you're going to be signing on for a long time.

    Good luck.
