 Congratulations Thrifty!! :j
Today will be spendy as I have to go from the sticks to the city to have the car fixed- it cut out on me 4 times yesterday  I'll have a long wait and I will have the 3 kids with me and it will be the first time we will be in real shops apart from grocery stores since well before christmas. So hopefully i'll be able to think of Kat and her abstinence yesterday and although i'll prob treat the kids to lunch out it wont be a full on thing (once upon a time it would have been TGIs but i'm thinking more Morrisons Cafe now!) :rotfl::money: There is a couple of things I need though so will make a list beforehand and try to stick to it. Hoping the car doesnt cost too much either
Will check in later and hopefully wont have too much to confess to!0 -

OMG, I still can't believe it. Had a great day, BF got up with the wee man, made coffee and cooked a lovely tea tonight. Then....he proposed. I've been waiting for so long and nearly gave up. Totally over the moon. Better start a new savings account

And for the big one....
We've tipped the 50% point of paying things off!!! Over half way there!! Never thought i'd be this happy when it happened, I'm seriously over the moon. If this is only half way I might die of happiness when we actually get there!
So so so so happy.
VERY Happy Friday to all!! :beer:0 -
Hi All
Well done on the lack of spending Kat! Forgot to comment last night but meant to!
Well done Mayfair on reaching the half way point. That is fantastic!
Poodle, I hope your car isn't to costly. My car bill has come to £999.34 which also includes 2 tyres. (Positive thinking). It is mended and hubby will collect it later so we will be mobile againThe bill is pretty much what I expected and I have shuffled money around to pay for it. I was going to put it on my credit card over the phone but they don't take payments over the phone so I have had to transfer the money from my account to hubby so he can pay on his debit card. He doesn't have a cc and I don't have a pin for mine - so I can only use it for online shopping or telephone payments. It has almost cleared me out but I do have some cash in my purse and £80 on my sainsburys card which should see us through the rest of the month. No more internet shopping and lots of ebaying me thinks!
I have been doing some washing and tidying the kitchen this morning. Had a nice chat with my aunty on the phone and I have a friend coming round for coffee in half an hour with her little one. Our boys have gone on a school trip today and M was very excited. They are going on a steam train and the sun is shining'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -
Congratualtions to Thrifty :T:):T:):T Lovley news
I love also that we all share the high (and the lows) of life and not just debt-busting! Proper little community.
Wednesday turned out not to be a SFD - I got invited to a pub quiz with a couple of friends I hadn't seen in ages. And I felt the need to go do something. It seems I'm missing all my housemate's leaving things, so I had spare in the social budget, and so off I went. Was a lovely fun evening, really good catch up. Although did end with me icing Valentine's biscuits at 12.30am!
I had the most Valentines-y Valentines in my life! I had lunch out with my parents and my aunt - 3 courses at the local catering college restaurant, MSE and yum! Stopped off to see a friend after work, to deliver valentine. So glad I did because he hadn't got anything and it kind of miserable about not being about to find a date, so nice to cheer him up. And then came home to a bunch of roses from the BF. So lovely and unexpected, but I had to beat down my little internal MSE fairy who instant thought was "Interflora roses on Valentines?!"
But the MSE fairy also spotted that there were only 11 roses. Who does bunches of 11 roses right?! So I'm thinking a small complaint might result in 12 more roses :rotfl: never let it be said I'm unromantic! Don't think I'll be able to pursuade the BF to complain, he doesn't like doing that. And I don't want to upset him thinking I was there counting. So I'll probably keep stchum.
An interesting lesson on what this is doing to me though!Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -
Hello all!
So I feel like a bit of a fraud as I took 10 days out of this challenge being on holiday which wasn’t very :money:MSE at all however it was all prepaid so whilst I didn’t feel like I was being very frugal I actually wasn’t spending any money. I’ve tried to catch up with how everyone is doing but it’s a long old thread. NSK sounds like your plans are evolving…Austrailia…ace! Good news on the budgeting and working from home Beckyboo, Mayfair great that that you have passed half way! Karmachilovething 11 roses, do you think they are cutting back and hoping people don’t notice? Like when they reduced the number of rolos in a tube but still charged the same?! Ooh and of course big congratulations Thriftylass J
So I’m back in the UK and back at work and my budget isn’t looking too healthy at all. First off I need to confess some unnecessary spending. Needless to say I won’t be indulging in the £10 treat of this challenge. I am taking it out of my socializing budget as I went shopping the other Saturday with a friend. I got a jumper, trousers, two pairs of earrings, two rings and a necklace, all heavily discounted, rrp £74.50 but I paid £21. I also got a drink and cookie for £2 as after all that shopping we needed refuelling! And speaking of fuel I went to a petrol station I’d never been to before and didn’t realise that the pump I had gone to only had diesel and super unleaded which I just assumed was regular unleaded, grrr, my mistake but it cost me an extra 17p per litre L Luckily for me and my purse many of the airport shops were shut so I only got a couple of magazines for the journey and my other half got the drinks. When we got back we had a nice meal in for Valentines day as we were both tired and don’t celebrate it much anyway. I used my 8oots points to buy a new baby card and gift for a friend who gave birth earlier than expected so I will be going to see her this weekend but other than that will be mostly at home saving my holiday photos, doing all my washing and ironing, getting back to the gym (10 days lounging and all-inclusive damage needs repairing!) and eBaying my £50’s worth of items.
Pay day is still ten days away so I think it might be a quiet week ahead too. Need to find some cheap/free social activities and also some recipes that only need inexpensive ingredients! Hope you are all doing well!
Hair do £55/£55
Petrol £15/£21.46
Food £40/£26.82
Airport £10/£2.95
Social £25/£24.89 (£21 shopping!!)
Misc £5.50/£4.68 (new baby card, deodorant, valentines card & sweets)

:jHi all - its half term at last:j (sorry mums and dads)
Another SFD here at Ninno towers. Payday is a week today ad I won the veg raffle at sw yesterday so can save on the veg. My aim for this week is not to spend money until next friday and to exercise more (sw did not go well yesterday;)).
This is also my "holiday at home" dummy run. Strangely I am splitting my trial two days. Day one is on monday - a whole day sewing with friends using up fabric stash and hopefuully ending up with something decent enough for a christmas present - so tomorrow will be spent sorting through the stash finding the appropriate designs.
Ebay is not going so well at the moment so I also need to use the holiday to start loading it up.
Off now to make a shepherds pie for tea which will do me tomorrow as well. I am also going to make a ham and veg broth from a ys ham hock in the freezer - at 99p that will give me a number of luscious lunches.
Keep going everyone - we're over the midway hump now and its all downhill from now on! xxx44 day challenge

PJ what a lot for the car:eek:- glad you have managed to jiggle and juggle and get it sorted- and remain upbeat:j
Well my car wasnt too bad- £65 for a new filter and they gave it a wash too which was well overdue:p but as predicted we did have a spendy day in the shops (its months since we went to actual shops) and we bought the dogs training treats and toys, the 2 youngest kids chose novelty toothbrushes, £50 on clothes for my eldest daughter:eek: a couple of oddments such as toothpaste and hairbands etc, my youngest chose a pack of Moshis for his birthday next week £14 and then on the way home we called in Ikea and had our tea £25)and bought a chest of drawers much needed by my middle child £45 so it was about £150 plus the £65 for the car  so VERY SPENDY day, NAUGHTY, BAD POODLE  but apart from a couple of 99p items it was all much needed or overdue stuff (my middle daughters clothes have been in piles at the side of her room since her wardrobe fell to bits just before xmas)
Just realised this was a very :eek::eek: post! Good job we live an hour and half from the nearest shops thats all I can say!0 -
