Hi everyone, managed another sfd today, so pleased about that. Worked till two and only tomoz to do until a couple of days off.
Ninno, loving your ideas for an at home holiday, as I really want a holiday this year but not having one. I have a couple of days off next week but its not going to be a peaceful time as Im looking after DGD, but as I love her to bits I will be loving every single minute:) but I have a couple of holiday days in March, so I think I will take a leaf out of your book and ignore boring house jobs and go tourist around the local area, it really appeals to me as there a few museums not too far away that I have never visited and I could take a trip to see the sea as well:)
Anyway heating turned off, hot water bottles in bed and asits another early start tomorrow I think I wll go to bed with a good book for a bit before I go to sleep, so ((((hugs)))) to all who may need them.

Evening everyone. Thank you for the hugs and kind and thoughtful words. I really appreciate it.
Mum's dementia started a long time ago but I didn't realise. She had a stroke 7 or 8 years ago followed by a fractured hip and I have been looking after her to some extent since then when she was unable to go out by herself. My dad died 16 years and I have no brothers and sisters. We sold both houses and bought our current house together in 2009. We made a grannie annexe in the double garage. We had just over 2 years here before she was admitted to hospital.
She had become confused at home, no concept of time, thinking I was late home, not knowing what day it is, not being able to find things, not bothering to eat some days or change clothes. I used to leave her notes, tell her things over and over. We got by but it was getting worse. She refused to wear a lifeline or have anyone in to help. She started having falls which was very worrying. After a serious uti she went of her legs and deteriorated a lot and that was when she went to hospital. I never thought she wouldn't come home but she just got worse. That was when she was diagnosed with dementia. She was massively resistant to the care home to start with but staff won her round with love and kindness. She went from being angry and begging to go home to mostly just being happy to see me. She sleeps a lot and needs help with everything. She gets confused and upset at times though especially during interventions as she does not want bothering or does not understand what is happening. Her lucid times can be awful too because then she has some awareness of her situation. If she thinks she has been to the pub with my dad well, good for her. She is much better enjoying her memories then being in the present.

And back to the subject at hand....
Not a SFD for me. Spent £30 which I gave to hubby to go to Lidl. He had the £5 voucher and spent £40. This included a huge bag of basmati rice and a. 1000 piece jigsaw and top for M so pretty good. He got some Thai curry pastes and all the things on my list. He did good
I found a book - Disney stories about fairies £3.33 and a pink glittery compact mirror £1.99 for the gift. Hubby bought a card. M had a great time
After they got back me and M watched Harry potter on itv+1 and we had a Sunday dinner. Hubby read to M who is now in bed and I am chilling on the sofa with a blanket and a pear ciderHubby and I have been watching The Killing and I am going to ask if he wants to watch an episode in a mo. he is upstairs eBaying. I have already relisted 11 things. Will try to get some more on in the week.
I have decided to go for the 5 year fixed rate mortgage and have asked to overpay by 25 per month which will be a start towards reducing the term. I have found my old mortgage free wanna be diary from 2011 when I had a very motivated start, made an overpayment and then nothing! It is keeping the momentum that I struggle with. If you want to, please pop over.'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -
Evening all,
How is everyone doing??
I have had a lovely few days - Strictly, friend's birthday night out and Britain's got talent (audition shows in manc) which was very entertaining. Some of Britain has talent, and some OMG!!!!:eek:
Spends have taken a early hit:o as you see below, also had the trauma with the poll tax - need to make/find/beg and not steal £72 so as dont get bank charges. Made a start and have got £7 from fleaby after p&p, need to put some more bits on. Hopefully shouldn't need to food shop too soon although some decent coffee is urgently req. Nearly finished Mo***son's own brand and it was disgustingly tasteless, thankgod I only bought a small jar.
My £10 sainsbury voucher reward has come from Valued ops but that went on Jan's total....but hey Im getting into doing surveys, adpoints etc, quite addictive especially when you know there's money to be made.
Off to my bed now

Just a quick update before I fall asleep. Had two spend days. Wine and taxi on Saturday (for a lovely dinner at a friends house) and Lidl for fresh produce today. Just watched my eBay listings finish and made about £120 quid, woohoo. Even BF is getting interested now, will see if he actually ever starts selling some of his junk. Maybe I should just have a look and sell it on his behalf
.
Catch up tomorrow

Just to add, while telly is paused and hubby making a sandwich, I like the idea of the home holiday too ninno. Will be interested to see how it goes. I try to do something similar when it is half term and I m off work. I try to plan out what we are going to do but you can feel that you should be doing this or that rather than the fun stuff. If you really plan it though it should work out.
Yorkshire lass your hol at home sounds like most of the self catering holidays I have been on lol!'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -

GOOD MORNING TO YOU ALLLL!!!!
It's like a bad case of deja vu - back at work. I have to shout to Missy... ***Oooooh you got your boy moving in.. oh la la***. There had to get that out of my system! Not jealous whatsoever....ahem...
I am back on the tea! Can you tell I am wired?? After a month off it I could probably plow through LionHeartedGirl's stash in a matter of days!!! And LHG I was sat on my motorbike in traffic right outside a PRET..£2.85 for porridge?? I get mine for 1 kilo @ 81p at Mr T's.. feel well chuffed with myself. I soak the oats momentarily in water, add a grated apple and a mashed banana. Used to get it as a kid and still love it..:T
Gretchen - ( please tell me this is your real name I LOVE IT ).. you got me thinking there about petrol. My £150 for the month is EXcluding petrol which would take my total up to £350... I am loathed to pay this much for travel but have no choice. Even if I move it won't make any difference....Grr!
Thrifty is being thrifty - lol! Well done on a £120 bid. That's amazing!! £50 challenge = SMASHED!! Even better that OH is getting interested.. more hands on deck the better!!
Ninno - I want a home holiday! Hard when you share a house with your landlady and her son plus girlfriend. I don't really used the living room, can't relax properly and have to contend with a barking dog.. but I am liking the idea!
PurpleJay are you going to resurrect the diary or start a new one? Abundant has one on the go - worth a read as he uses a superb analogy. Might give you an idea to keep you motivated..? Well done on the over-payment though and fixed rate - at least you know where you are for 5 years!! hank you for sharing more about your Mum.. we are all thinking about her now...x
Nanny - loving your evenings in. The other son of my landlady has gone now and will want to get his TV off me very soon.. a friend is loning me a book called "Twelve" which is hefty so I think I shall have some quiet time in the evenings instead of the TV going right up to sleep time.... now I can dream of vampires instead...hmmmm...When is the little one due??
I laughed at the comments about peoples trollies. My mum read an article once where two people in a supermarket were looking in each others trollies.. one with vegetables and rice, fruit and nuts and healthy items... the other had ready meals, sugar loaded cereal, crisps and bottles of coke... both were thinking "What on earth is she going to eat"... it's amazing what people are happy with but I think Asda does cater for those who are skint broke and destitute for a reason.. the problem is with the healthy food being so expensive as opposed to people continually buying it. If you are on benefits what do you do?..Some people have to use the tools they have, education they got and brains they possess. Mightn't be how we do it but I am more angry at the supermarkets etc... could go off on one but I think that's enough..:rotfl:
Siouxsie your post sounded just like what I am thinking. I hit so much overtime that its hard to see friends. I made a pledge to dedicate myself to them more.. especially my friend with the little boy as we used to live together and I was her bridesmaid..and went to see another on Sat night as we are cinema buddies and might move in together shortly.. but others are getting there NSK time too.. especially since I am single I need to do this now.. but the lure of double time is too great... But we shall get there.. can't believe you have to wait until March to see one though..
Right I gotta get some bits done at work - here until 1900 so no doubt you will hear from me again before the day is done!!!
