Thank you. Sadly, I won't be able to switch to them though as they don't supply my region0

Having used the MoneySavingExpert website for years, I thought it was about time I joined the forums and hopefully leave posts which will help other people!
I have been checking my gas & electricity tariffs every year for the last few years, to make sure I'm on the cheapest ones. Last November I switched to Ovo from Npower because they were now being listed as my cheapest supplier.
The thing I like most about them is their online account management. For example last month I needed to change my direct debit and could do it through the website, without having to phone them. Also one of the issues I've had with previous companies is understanding the bills! But with Ovo it seems really clear how much I'm being charged and what for.
Overall would definitely recommend, but of course only if they're the cheapest0 -
You can now reduce your Ovo bills by a further 5% if you sign up to their new Just Reward 'flexible direct debit' scheme.

what does "standing charge" mean? i've checked out the best deals but i don't know if this standing charge fee is added on to what you pay, if it is does this mean you save that amount less?0

Hi, has anyone else had problems with Ovo getting the credit balance paid back. I've now been with them for 12 months and had been reasonably happy, however I had accrued nearly a thousand pounds in credit. When I asked for this to be paid back, they said it would be within 5 days. Shock horror, when day 5 arrived, the amount was not to be seen in my bank account. When I rang they said it was because I didn't have a recent meter reading - Laughable really because I hadn't even asked for the full amount to be paid back (I was leaving a buffer, just in case) and the previous meter reading had been a mere 4 days over the 30 days they apparently required (which they didn't tell me about until I rang to find out where my money was).
I gave them a meter reading there and then. Again they stated it would be five days and guess what...................
I'm still waiting.
I'm actually considering paying the penalty to leave this company, as I've not yet received a response or the money even though this has been put in writing.0 -
I switched to Ovo but under the banner of Woodland Trust Energy, prices are the same so not sure why the need a different name but I found the process quite easy. I did try to swap online but nothing happened at the end so I wasn't entirely sure I had completed the switch. I called and a really pleasant young man sorted it for me, he said he would check to see if the switch had in fact gone through and promised to call me back. He did and at the time and date he'd promised... he did the whole switch over for me over the phone as my online application hadn't worked. The direct debit is up and running but after 4 weeks I still do not have a final statement from SSE and I'm hoping for a refund from them. I like the fact that Ovo have onshore call centre and I hope they have completed their side of the switchover as far as notifying my previous supplier.0

I have been with NPower since before privatization.
But after the recent problems with them - and the fact that they are moving their call centres abroad, I decided to change.
After much searching, then reading the comments here about OVO, I am going to go to them.
So thank you to those who have taken part in this topic.

Just been told that Ovo's 5% discount for managing account online is changing to a flat £30 off per fuel (only at contract year end if account fully managed online).
Also, they charge just over £57 for removing an Economy7 meter!
Since their charges increased on 23 December, I'd like to see an option to pick the new tariff for comparison in The Cheap Energy Club please.0 -
Does OVO have the option to pay on receipt of bill rather than monthly direct debit?0

I signed up with them today, and was told the on line reward, is £60 a year - for duel fuel.
I was also informed that direct debit payments will be increased by 25% during the winter months.
Does this happen every year, or just a one off till they see what my usage is?A greyhound is for life - not just for racing.0
