Ovo Energy Reviews: Give your feedback

. . . If Ovo still offers a low tariff then they can expect me back in 3 months time.

I'm puzzled. Like others, I am here researching Ovo as a potential alternative to Eon. I have been happy with Eon's service, but the prospect of a 28% price jump, at a time of low inflation and rock-bottom oil prices, forces me to look elsewhere. If Eon can provide answers on this forum, why can they not do more to encourage customer loyalty?0

In the end it's really up to us, their customers, to vote with our feet. That's the only opinion which energy suppliers will understand.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I've been with Ovo for 2 years and have been generally happy with them although there were some teething problems with the switch and billing problems early on. My contract is now coming to an end and I have been informed that the prices are increasing and my discount will be discontinued. Shame as I would have been happy to stay with them but it looks like I need to shop around again which I find tedious. GB is showing up a lot on comparison sites but they are a new supplier and there isn't a lot of feedback available which is making me nervous.0

In my region, Green Star looks competitive and has reasonable <Citzens Advice complaints stats>. Where the energy suppliers are concerned, however, nothing can be guaranteed.

I would check this again. They certainly remove the online discount if you transfer to another tariff within your contract period.
I would be surprised if it was lost on renewal after the original contract ends.
If you are right, then OVO are shooting themselves in the foot or even both feet. :eek:0 -

I agree. The CS member was clearly asleep when this was discussed in class, and he/she may not have been aware that your tariff is coming to an end. Have you received the 49/42 day end-of-contract notification from Ovo?
Ovo's prices have fallen since the early summer so I am not sure what is being referred to in the answer that you were given.
I would pose the question to them again in writing but if you are outside the 49/42 day window then just to sit on your hands until Ovo contacts you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hmm thanks, think I'll double check this then. I have received my end-of-contract letter so need to get this sorted soon.

You will no doubt have read this:
11. What happens at the end of your Fixed Plan?
11.1. If your Fixed Plan ends and you haven’t asked us for a new Fixed Plan, we will automatically transfer you to the relevant Deemed Contract until you switch to a new supplier or you start a new Fixed Plan with us. We have to do this under Ofgem rules. If we hear from your new supplier within 20 Working Days after the change takes effect, or if you enter into a new plan with us in the same period, we’ll keep your prices the same until you switch or start the new plan (as applicable).
11.2. If your Fixed Plan ends and you’ve asked us for a new Fixed Plan, we’ll start a new contract with you for the new Fixed Plan on the date the old one ends.
11.3. If you’ve asked for a new Fixed Plan under clause 11.2 and we lower the price of that Fixed Plan before your new contract starts, we will honour the lower prices if you contact us before the new contract starts.
Loss of the online discount (which Ovo terms a termination fee only applies to tariff hopping when you are in a fixed term contract. Once the 49 day rule kicks in, you cannot be penalised. I was with Ovo for a year. Horrible experience. The website does not work half the time. Promised calls back from Customer Services never happen. In June was I was £80 in CREDIT they decided they anted to up my direct debit by some £15 I refused good job I did I ended up £160 odd pounds in credit which I have had the usual hassle to get back. To cap it all their leaving instructions email advises you not to cancel your direct debit until everything is finalised. They took my direct debit in January even though I ceased to be a customer at the beginning of December - a fact they admit - but getting that direct debit payment back from them like getting the overpayment back is liking getting blood out of a stone. I would not touch them with a barge pole0
