I just wish these energy companies would just have a simple supply - charge - pay policy like the old days.

You can still get "pay on receipt of bill" tariffs with a number of suppliers. The rates are not as attractive as if you choose to pay by DD - for obvious reasons.
Have you got a link to confirm that?
They said I could "pay on receipt of bill" but I would have to put a deposit with them before they would do it for me.0 -

Still no statement for November, but my balance credit has decreased by £60, which I assume is the early termination fee for my tariff. I've now been told by EON that my leccy is switching today and the gas tomorrow:T -so I've given them up to date readings.
Don't think I'll be getting anything from OVO now til the final accounts. I'll just have to watch my current account to make sure they don't request a DD for January.;)0 -
I swapped from Scottish Gas, [thank goodness] to Ovo in Feb 14 through this energy club but unfortunately the switch didn't go smoothly through the club and I ended up going direct to Ovo to avoid any more bother with SG. Problem with this energy club is there's no one to contact if things don't happen as it is run on a shoe string. So I was left in limbo, Scottish Gas saying the hadn't heard from Ovo and Ovo saying they hadn't heard from either Energy Club or Scottish Gas. So I missed out on the cash back aspect.
Having said that Ovo has been excellent. The only thing delaying me renewing is the difference between the two Better Energy online prices, one with customer service help with phone and emails and one without. The latter one involves everything going ok with your online account and having nothing unusual that needs contacting Ovo. The difference in price for me is £70 pa. I have contacted them by email over the past year but I don't think it is worth £70 so will probably risk the cheaper version. BTW I have 'chatted' on line to Ovo about the prices and their prices are cheaper than those quoted on this website and another that I have checked so it makes a bit of a mockery of comparison sites.

I had a smooth switch in to Ovo (from nPower) in December 2013. Their website is good and I've found it very easy to enter meter readings (monthly) and to vary my direct debit amount.
Leaving them hasn't gone so well. Three days after my contract ended they sent me an email thanking me for staying and giving me details of their most expensive, variable tariff. That's in spite of my new supplier having confirmed that they were now supplying me.
I emailed and to their credit, received a reply with the hour, telling me that it was a problem with their system which sent that email to everyone who doesn't renew on their current fixed rate tariff. Effectively that email was untrue.
I registered a formal complaint because it could be really scary to be told that your supplier switch hasn't gone through and to face having two companies take direct debits from your account.
I received a more empathetic apology back.0 -
I'm in the final stage of leaving OVO - I became a customer of EON a month ago but its taken until 29th December for the final reading to show on my OVO account and the final (sizeable ) credit balance to be calculated. The disquieting thing now, is that this ~ £370 balance has effectively vanished as far as the web site is concerned - no transactions shown but the balance is now zero !!:(
I sincerely hope that its winging its way back into my bank account:eek:0 -

Myself and my husband went with Ovo energy 3 years ago after renting a house and the estate agents signed us with them. first we started paying £148 a month and things where ok. Then a year later they tried to take £289 out of our account. After days of trying to contact them, we finally got hold of someone and complained about not letting us know about what they where doing. We where told that " they wanted to take £299 a month. we managed to get them to put it to £189 but said we wanted to have proof of how much we where using a month. We never got anymore from them and for two years no one read our meters or emailed us or any letters. they then started taking (without letting us know ) £235 a month, we tried and tried to get in contact with someone buy email and phone and never got anything from them and still no meter readings. Then October 2014 they took without warning yet again £465 out of our account. We asked our bank to stopped the payment as we where concerned about the amount Ovo had taken and the bank agreed with us. We yet again tried and tried to get in contact with Ovo and no one got back to us. after nearly a month they got back to us, telling us we owe £2,530. we said that we have had No meter reading for over two years and yet they said we owe it. How can you owe money without any readings for two years.:( has anyone else had this problem?? we have been made ill with all of this
we are seriously looking into going to offgen0
