Hello, I desperately want to change energy supplier and am considering Ovo (seem to come out top or nearly quite often when I do a comparison).
I've had massive problems with my current supplier as I use Economy 7 (storage heaters) and their new system they installed couldn't cope with having 4 different electricity readings! So they've all had to be done manually which means waiting nearly a year for a bill after moving house ...
Anyhow, can anyone tell me if Ovo have similar problems or do meter readings go through no problem? I like the sound of giving monthly meter readings and statements being produced off the back of that - should hopefully mean everything is correct (unlike where I am now!). Can the website cope with Economy 7 meter readings do you know or do you have to phone them in?
Bit worried by the fact that if I change now, they might put my DD up high for winter and I still need to be able to afford it - how does that work usually?
Have tried phoning (usually after work I must admit), but never get through to anyone and give up after 10 mins or so!!0 -
I've found Ovo very good up until they decided they'd like to upgrade me to smart meters. I explained to them that it was fine in principle but if and when work arrives I have to be prepared to travel anywhere. I started a new contract and took a day off for the meter man. Ovo claim that the sub-contractors tried to call me the day before and left a message. There was no message. They say that the appointment was cancelled as they couldn't get hold of me and thought I might be working away. A huge waste of time and loss of earnings0

So the misbilling "virus" has hit OVO now? Just checking mine at the mo'.
Hope it doesn't delay them paying me my large credit when I switch to EON shortly -the unseasonally warm weather and the normal pre winter build up means that I'm carrying ~ £400 in credit!0 -
Hi buffymad
I am on economy 7 with OVO and have no issue entering two different readings.

Hi,
I am looking to switch to OVO via the Cashback link in MSE Cheap Energy Club comparison. But having an error page after clicking the button in there.
Anyone experience the same issue but managed to get around? Appreciate if any advise.
Thanks.0 -
I did what was needed all went smooth, got the first letter had the wrong prices on so after a 20min wait on the phone (0800 on mobile not cheap). The man on the phone said he would get me a new letter out with the right prices on.
No 2 weeks later and the cut off for the contract is today 19/11/14 and still no letter. Before this I went on OVO website and got a quote from them to fined out that I can not have a contract with the because I have storage heaters and I want a prepayment contract. None of this is mentioned in any comparison site and OVO does not check either.
So with that I have cancelled the contract and I am still with EON. So word of warning if you have all electric and a prepayment meter with storage heaters don't bother with OVO.:(0 -
Received a reminder email from Ovo regarding my fixed period ending in mid January. Signed up to the MSE energy club to do a comparison.
The comparison was slightly misleading as it assumed I would transfer to Ovo's standard tariff for the rest of 2015 so the projected savings were false if I actually signed up again to Ovo's new fixed tariff.
It turns out that Ovo's new fixed tariff including their £60 online discount is cheaper than any of the options offered by MSE. I've been more than happy with Ovo over the last two years so have signed up for another 12 months.0 -
This is my first post.
l switched allegedly as a dual user on 1st April this year 2014.
To be fair the Electricity switch went well!
The Gas switch was a nightmare it took months to do. Ovo kept saying that it was because my supply was through an Independant Gas Transporter. They kept on saying that they were the supplier so I had to keep on paying the joint supply Direct Debit for almost six months - their interest rate is in real terms laughable. I am a seasoned switcher having done it many times for myself amd other family members so I do know my way round a meter reading. As for the IGT ihave had slight delays in the past but nothing to gety excited about.
My previous supply did all they could to resolve the situation to no avail! Everytime I sent Ovo an email they never answered the question that I posed - clearly they have a script and standard replies. Also there was never the same name on the reply - no person to person continuity. Phone calls were not much better either. I even threaten them with the Ombudsman - no comments ever arose from this. They kept on saying that they would escalate my concern!!!
Finally, I found out from the previous supplier that the Gas had been switched nothing from 0h No!!!!!. But they could not agree a start reading despite the faqct that I had given it to both suppliers.
My contract last with them up to April next year it will be Oh No then and never again.
Other users may well be lucky with their switches - good luck to you. I am counting the days 123 by my count until its goodbye.
MSE Samantha;58955749 - I hope your luck holds out.

I have been with Ovo for three years now. It was OK for the first 18 months, but since then I have had a running battle trying to keep my DD payments at a reasonable level. I am usually in credit, and usually make an extra payment to them about december time to keep me in credit, but Ovo continually write and tell me my DD will go up by about 50% the following month, even when I am in considerable credit. There then follows several emails back and forth, the outcome of which, they agree to fix my payments as i request. Then the next month it all starts again! I am getting so fed up with this. They have even given me a £42 'goodwill gesture' because of their failures, but I am beginning to dread the next email from them. Once they said they were increasing my £85 a month payment to £125! I just wish these energy companies would just have a simple supply - charge - pay policy like the old days. We don't need this continual harassment all the time.0

I'm switching away from OVO -put my meter readings in on 27/11 but no new statement has appeared yet - wonder if they will now wait for opening/closing reads via new supplier before producing another statement?0
