  • Sorry for your bad experiences Froglet, but I can only comment on my experience in the last 13 months which has given me no cause to complain.
  • We've been with them for years as they are always cheapest for us (e7+gas) and have been great, no problems until recently - they are disgraceful. Can't get through in under an hour, don't respond to emails, didn't ring back when they said they would.

Managed to get through to them to change tariff eventually then had quite a job getting them to agree a realistic direct debit amount despite being in credit. Then the web site started to show a dd nearly £20 more than the one agreed, despite me having an email from them confirming the lower amount. They didn't take my last dd so after speaking to them (another hour on the phone) they said it was an error, it had been deleted and wouldn't be taken so I had to pay it by debit card. Said DD amount being higher than agreed was also a mistake and would be changed back - it wasn't and eventually after over a week of trying got hold of them again and it is finally right.

Oh and I couldn't open our last bill so had to ring them and after 2 calls and over a week since I put the readings in they finally sorted it.

They have become what would be laughably incompetent - except it's not funny messing people about and taking literally hours to get hold of them - then they still don't sort the problem out. It's disgusting - it matters - it's peoples money and warmth and they are taking the p.

My feelings exactly Vicki.I used to recommend them to people i knew, and stayed with them because of their fantastic service. You could ring them up,ask for advice or help and they would always do what you wanted(within reason).

I wonder what has gone wrong? i know they had a pretty good fixed tariff when prices first started going up again this time and lots of people applied for it, but surely that should not account for all the mistakes and bad service.

I must have been with them at least 5 years and then to be messed about like this just leaves a bad taste. If it wasn't for the fact i have applied for the warm home discount which means i would lose it if i left,i would be changing pronto.
  • Hi Suzybloo, I'll will need to look at your account in detail, can you contact us via our profile page please? Regards Gerry

SCR Gerry..Do you still actually come on MSE anymore?
  • Moved to M & S September 2014 fix which went through 30 October (took 5 weeks). I am still waiting for a refund of my credit on my electricity account. 6 weeks to send a credit to a customer when accounts have been finalised is blatently holding on to the money.

So glad I`ve moved! they were fine whilst I was a customer but pains in the backside since decided to leave!!
  • Same here, been with SP since 2007 and all has been fine until this year. Their customer service is abysmal now, can't get through, no response to e-mails etc etc. Currently in process of moving from SP to Co-operative Energy who have a cheaper tariff than SP anyway but the poor service from SP has also featured in my decision to move away from them.
  • hi i will be phoning customer service when the open tomorrow but just wondered if anyone with scottish power could shed any light

we pay weekly £30 and had built up a balance of approx £430

scottish power requested online readings on thursday which we did and our combined bill gas and electric came out at £280 which left us in credit by approx £150

we then checked today to see if we had our warm front award yet and on friday they took another £135 out of our account leaving us now only £15 in credit

we cannot view our bill online so not sure why they have taken out another £135 on top of our bill from meter readings

all meter readings have been actual and not estimate

our warm front award has not been processed as yet

thank you in advance not been with scottish power long so any bill advice would be grateful just not sure why they have taken the original bill amount and then 24hours later taken a further £135
