I feel I have no other option left open to me than to take make a claim through the small claims court.
I`m considering the same thing, it`s only £25 for up to £300.

I put up to date meter readings online through their website on 28th November 2013 and again on 9th December 2013, plus I telephoned these meter readings on 9th December 2013, I spoke to Helena who said that the meter readings were not on our account. When I checked my emails I had recieved one thanking me for my meter readings on 9th December 2013. Helena said that she would ring me back on Friday 13th December 2013 between 10 and 11am. No call back. So I rung again and spoke to Colin at 14:00 on 13th December 2013, who informed me that no meter readings were on our account still, despite the fact that they were read by a gentlemen who came into our house on 12th December from Scottishpower, Colin said that he could not issue the refund because there was no up to date meter readings on our account!!!!! and nobody had been out to read our meters!!! Colin also said that it was not on our account for a call back on the 13th December 2013. I had to give Colin meter readings again!! that was the fourth time I had given them. Helena rung back at 16:00 she said that she had the wrong time for call back on our account,( Colin had said no call back was due to us!!!) she asked again for meter readings!! Helena said that our account and meter readings would have to go to the back office which takes 5 days and we should have the refund by friday 20th December 2013. Helena said that she would ring back on Monday 23rd December 2013 between 10 and 12, she said her hours were 10 till 7. No call back. Because of all this agro trying to get our refund back we have cancelled our direct debit for January 2014 as we are also in the process now after all this of switching our supplier through the cheap energy club on here.
I have a copy of the email sent to me thanking me for my up to date meter readings which I received on the 9th December 2013. So why was I told by Colin and Helena that no meter readings had been received and also after they were read by Scottishpower on the 12th December??
rung again on 2nd jan, spoke to conner who yet again took meter readings!! he said that we should receive a cheque in next 14 days. I have also emailed david at scottishpower who deals with complaints on here but received no reply!! we asked for our refund last December and still waiting for our refund!!! is it true that they also owe us late refund money as well??:mad:0 -

I switched to the Co-op energy last month for a projected saving of £92 per year. Switch went very smoothly, no problems. Just make sure you take the final readings on the switch day your new supplier informs you of.

3rd month in a row they've not taken our direct debit. Rang up after each of the 1st 2 and was told on both occasions that all looked fine and it would definitely be taken the following month. I paid it online the 1st month but put the next 2 in my savings account until they realise and review my account. Not wasting my time ringing this month, sent them an email and days later got an almost unintelligible reply basically saying make the payment on line!
I hate them soooo very much - incompetent *********0 -
I finally got my refund on the 9th January 2014. My switchover from Scottish power was completed on the 6th November 2103.
They sat with over £300 of my money in their accounts for over 2 months. Hell will freeze over and Satan will be skating to work before I use Scottish Power again.

May get mine soon then, contract finished 9 Nov 2013, final bills issued 2 Dec still waiting for refund. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
The average 8 weeks of delaying refunds seems to be deliberate policy by SP.
The staff must be told to say any old rubbish at the call centres regarding the matter.
It`s a pity one of them don`t come on these boards and "whistleblow" about this greedy company.
Be warned and don`t go with them and also check your DD at your bank to make sure they haven`t sneakily, without your permission, opened one again.0 -
My situation is I was thinking about changing from SP. however, I am in credit by some £240. For, some bizarre reason 6 months ago they put my direct debit up from £30 to £55 despite me using less than the previous year with minimal change in tariff.
After reading this thread I decided to get some credit back before I switch so I phoned up on 0800 027007214 and spoke to Ryan who automatically seemed to think I hadn't given them meter readings. My reply was 'Errr, No, you have that wrong I have been sending on-line readings monthly since you upped the DD!' once that was verified he asked me how much credit I wanted and how much my DD should be (bit shocked by that) so had the DD reduced down to £35 and a refund of £200 in 5 days time!
Time will tell, lets see if a current customer gets the same treatment as one that has switched!0 -
I have switched a few times over the last 15 years, it never went smoothly, so I haven't bothered for the last 5 years mainly for some of the same reasons mentioned, holding on to money, DD issues which ended up costing me money. I had court threats from British Gas & N Power stating I was in debt after I had switched, I think twice now. Anyway the last move was to Scottish Power, but our current monthly DD has risen to £143 pm which is too much for dual fuel on a 4 bed house with good insulation & low energy light bulbs.
I have just done some quick checks & SP actually ranked high on the list via the cheap energy club. I have checked directly with SP & I can reduce my monthly payments to £114 immediately by switching to a fixed price deal til 2015. That's ok for me.
There's a further price reduction of 3.8% from the end of the month, so even better.0 -

The call centre staff must be told to deliberately mislead people. Three different people told me that the refund transfer had been initiated and was progressing. That was from 17th Dec - 30th Dec. When I spoke to fourth person on the 2nd Jan they said the request had only been done on that day. Blatant lies. Terrible company. :mad:0
