In essence they have started from the previous bill.
credited you with the amount previously charged
You will then find they rebilled your mums account to total charges £1575.81 (which is £2198.53 - £622.72). This will be the electricity charges + VAT. giving the current balance £147.30 debit.
More than likely plus the meter read history they have to send to the new supplier will have the transposed readings included. Will not stop you being able to switch suppliers but will make things a little more difficult to sort out. Personally i would resolve the issue before looking to transfer the supply
Thank you both for your patience.
Wolf3, I have bolded the first part of your above post. When you say "they have started from the previous bill" by previous bill do you mean the June 01 bill that I'm contesting or the March bill?
Sorry I'm not getting this, it must be frustrating for you.
This is the way I'm seeing it: Wolf3 I have sent you a bill for £770 based on a transposed reading. You complain and tell me the bill is wrong. I then send you a bill with the readings the correct way round but use the £770 that you never owed in the first place as the opening balance.
Surely the opening balance on mum's bill (i.e., "Before this statement") should be similar to the original June 01 bill of £476.15CR?
Anyhoo, regardless of all this I still think the previous readings were transposed, not just the current reading so I will do as suggested and start by reading the meter every day for a week and see what it tells me.
Hengus: I do realise that CR means they owe us, but thanks for your help with this. I'm grateful that other forum users want to help even if the reps for Eon don't. Not sure why they're even on this board as when you look at their online profile you find they're reading "what are you having for dinner tonight?", "OS money saving" and "Raising a grievance against an employee" type stuff.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Sorry its the revised bill after the original June 01 bill you should be going from which is the June 01 final balance
starting balance £770.02 Debit
credited with the previous £2198.53 charges from the Jun 01 bill
debited with the new £1575.81 charges on the replacement bill
leaves the account £147.30 in debit
Hope that helps0 -

I understand this frustration, a victim of circumstance it would appear, Malc is on holiday this week apparently and Eon are probably one of the most active companies on these forums. They at least put their head above the parapet and genuinely get issues sorted and always respond, which cant be said about some of the other companies.0 -

Sadly, this is not my experience. E.oN CS are keen to avoid getting into any detail and, when challenged, they tend to adopt a very defensive attitude even, I suspect, when they know that they are in the wrong. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Why did Malc request I do a meter reading and then contact him when he must have been aware he was going on holiday?
If I wait for him to come back how do I contact Him, or anyone else who can sort out this problem?
I'm sorry there's been a breakdown of communication here.
Our email address is in our profile page, it WebForumAdvisors@eonenergy.com
Thank you
Just to add, we do search the whole forum along with working on Twitter and Facebook, this does take us to some unrelated threads somethings, However, members do post about their energy accounts all over the forum.

Some progress to report, yipee. Eon called today in response to my email and want me to take a spaced reading and get back to them. I've already done that, which is how we knew the readings were transposed, but I'm quite happy to do it again if it will get us somewhere! They seemed to think that I'm claiming the meter is registering the wrong way round and I thought we'd already established that it's not, hence the revised bill, but hey ho....
Helena, I take your point and I apologise if you found my comment needlessly spiteful. I'm posting out of frustration. Thank you for an e mail contact address that does not seem to appear on either Your's or Malc's profile.
The only link I could find previously took me to the Eon Homepage.0 -

Which we didn't owe in the first place. This is the thing that's making me crazy (one of the things). If you can bear it, please can you pick out the exact spot where I'm going wrong from the following......(now you know how my poor maths teacher felt at school).
The June 01 bill is the one that's wrong. Because they have the R1 and R2 transposed. The result of this wrongness is a fictitious balance owing of £770.02, even though we started this bill with a credit balance, from the previous March bill.
I tell them this is wrong and why and they say ignore this bill and we'll send a revised one. Tick, good.
The revised bill arrives dated June 9th and credits us for the whole amount of electric and standing charges from June 01 bill (£2,198.53CR). Good.
Then it charges us the revised amount for the electricity used and standing charges. £1,605.46 Good.
Under Total Charges it then says £593.07CR Good.
I understand it completely up to this point (I think). All of this is on the back of the bill. Then I turn the bill over......
This is the point where my brain melts:
Before this statement £770.02
and it then goes on apply the credit of £593.07CR referred to above to this (IMO fictitious) £770.02 which leaves a balance owing of £147.30.
I feel like one of those Kings in a fairy story who promises his daughter's hand in marriage and great riches to the man who can do some impossible task for him.
I promise my undying gratitude to the man (or woman) who can make me understand why this mythical figure of £770.02 is being applied to our balance.
I realise I'm probably at risk of alienating the two chaps who have been very patient up to now, so this is going to be my last post of this nature. If everyone still tells me I'm wrong I will have to start believing it, I 'spose!

I can understand how difficult this is. In your situation, I would ignore the detail in the various bills and I would just work out the bill for myself. Presumably, you have actual meter readings that you can use and the bill will show unit prices, standing charges etc. The bills will also show the amounts paid.
Alternatively, if it was any other supplier, I would suggest that you should ask CS to do the sums for you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thanks, Hengus. I did have a bash at working it out the other day and it showed about £13 owing to Eon, but I 'spose it can't be accurate until I finally get to the bottom of whether it's just the current readings that are transposed or the old ones as well, as I suspect.
I'm quite hopeful of getting this resolved now. The lady from Eon who called me today sounded very helpful and reasonable.
I feel a bit like I'm taking up too much space on this thread, so I'm going to give it a rest until I've got some news.
