About 1 week ago, I used the Energyhelpline's Great British Collective Switch to move from one EON tariff to another. I received the EHL email confirming the switch but I haven't had any communication from EON eg welcome email message since then -should I have ?? Or will nothing happen in this case until the 14 day cooling off period has passed??

    Hi brewerdave

Existing customers switching to the new collective tariff through EHL follow a bit of a different path. As requests go through EHL first, it can take a few days for these switches to hit our system. Once they do, we'll let customers know about their new tariff by the means they selected, email or letter. Online accounts will also be updated with the new tariff.

    The E.ON EHL Collective Fixed 1 Year tariff isn't available throughout the UK. For duel fuel, it's available in electricity regions 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. For electricity only, in regions 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22 and 23. There's no gas only option.

    Hope this helps brewerdave.

PS/ as this is the one hundredth time I've posted on this thread thought I'd thank everyone for helping to keep me off the streets. :T

Thanks Malc; got an email overnight which told me I'd switched EON tariffs and website now shows EHL deal as current. Presumably the EON computer will calculate the meter readings for the switch over point when I next get a bill, altho' I have entered actual readings this morning??

    Hi Malc,

I entered my meter readings and requested a paperless bill. I pay by var qtly direct debit. However because I have raised a paperless bill it states payment to be take by dd on the 26 March. Moving forward am I to assume if I raise a bill after entering my meter readings I would be expected to pay that bill even though the qtly period was not up.

Its not an issue but just for future reference.

    Many thanks.

    Hi brewerdave

Glad all's gone through ok. If your account's in the billing window (14 days either side of the next bill date for quarterly billed customers), the readings entered today will automatically produce a bill. If not, they'll be recorded but not billed to. In this case, we'll estimate readings for the date of the tariff switch on your next bill.

You can, though, issue your own bill using the Real Time Billing tool on the website. Here, when readings are entered outside the billing window, you'll be given the option of viewing the balance they'll result in or producing a bill. If you select the latter, a bill will be issued to your readings. Normal billing will continue on schedule but go from the readings entered through Real Time Billing.

    Hope this is useful brewerdave.

    Hi Mable

Yes, that's right. With a Variable Direct Debit, payments are taken in full a few days after each bill. This includes interim bills issued through our website using Real Time Billing. Sorry, should've mentioned it when talking about this facility before.

Don't know if you're aware, but there's a payment adjustment worth about £35 per fuel per year if you were to go on a Monthly Direct Debit instead. Will save you a bit and you'll also be able to take more control over payments using the online Direct Debit Manager. This lets you change the payments should circumstances change.

Provided accounts are billed up to date, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the change, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if the new amount is put through but usage doesn't alter accordingly. If of interest, you can set up a Monthly Direct Debit through our website.

    Hope this helps Mable.

Many thanks Malc and note about monthly direct debits. To be honest I would sooner pay var qtly and pay more. I am still fighting to get a final bill and refund from some organization who supplied me two companies back.

I am certainly not saying E.ON would treat me this way but leaves a very bitter taste and I want to be in control.

    No offence.

  • I swapped energy supplier with the Cheap Energy Club in Dec. however when I logged in last week to enter a meter reading I noticed my bill was £400 in debit.

It turns out when I swapped MSE set the direct debit at £10 for gas and £10 for elect!

I assumed the direct debit would continue for the same amount as I was paying British Gas.

EOn are blaming MSE for this but they have now set the DD for £120 a month.

I can't believe I am the only person this has happened to.

I am very annoyed that this has happened. So much for switching being simple.

Even if a house was empty surely the bill would be more than £10 for gas and £10 for elect.
