    I am on fix online v16 tariff.

    I received a text earlier saying,
    Hi it`s E.ON. As part of your energy tariff you agreed to have meters fitted We`ve got appointments Mon to Friday please reply with the best time for you.

    I`ve looked at replies earlier on this thread for other tariffs and the misinformation thats going around so who is correct the person sending these texts out saying we`ve agreed for them to be fitted or the terms that say weve only agreed to be contacted and if its the latter is that for all tariffs,or are some still obligated to have the meters fitted?

    Hello metrobus and it's the T&Cs that are correct.

    For Fix Online v16, section 11.1 says as follows.

    With this tariff you agree to be contacted during the tariff term for the installation of a smart meter.

    On Fix Online v16, you've agreed only to be contacted and can turn down our offers to fit smart meters whilst staying on the tariff.

    Each tariff has specific T&Cs which outline what customers are agreeing to when they choose a product. There will be some, mainly earlier tariffs, where the T&Cs include the obligation to have smart meters fitted.

    The T&Cs on many of our tariffs have been changed recently to take away the bit about agreeing to have smart meters fitted. Regrettably, some of our messaging is lagging behind. This is something I've raised here and asked for these automatic messages to be updated.

    Hope this explains metrobus and sorry for the confusion.

    Does the new "Fix Online Exclusive v8" tariff require smart meters to be fitted? I can't find the T&Cs.

    Thats strange the t&cs are the 1st thing that pops up if you google fix online exclusive v6.

    Seems that V.8 is not new: it was available only from 5 October 2018 to 15 October 2018.

    I'm looking for V8 not V6. The T&C's could change between versions. The first google result for "Fix Online Exclusive v8" is a different, old tariff with "Energy" in the name.

    That is "Energy Fix 1 Year Exclusive v8", which is a different and older tariff to "Fix Online Exclusive v8" which has just appeared on comparisons in the last couple of days.

    Hello f300 and, no, with Fix Online Exclusive v8 you don't have to agree to having smart meters fitted.

    It's a similar situation with this tariff as per my reply to metrobus (#1373 - 30 August 19) above. Specifically, with Fix Online Exclusive v8, customers agree only to be contacted about smart meters and can turn down our offers to have them fitted whilst staying on the tariff. The relevant T&C (11.1) says as follows.

    With this tariff you agree to be contacted during the tariff term for the installation of a smart meter.

    Fix Online Exclusive v8 is for new customers and was launched on 6 September 19 through Price Comparison sites only. This tariff is still on sale as we speak and is different from the Energy Fix 1 Year Exclusive v8 (withdrawn from sale on 15 October 18) and version 6 of Fix Online Exclusive (withdrawn from sale on 12 August 19).

    Hello metrobus and section 1.4.2 is part of our general T&Cs for all tariffs. The section specifically about an individual tariff like our Fix Online Exclusives is 11. This takes priority over 1.4.2.

    Hello Gerry1 and, as above, the tariff you link to (Energy Fix 1 Year Exclusive v8) is different from our recent range of Fix Online Exclusive products. As you say, this was withdrawn from sale on 15 October 18.
