Apparently, according to a recent interaction with an Eon employee, the tariffs with "Exclusive" in their name are for new customers only, something (just for a change) the CEC does not make clear.0

Not always Smodlet. In the past, tariffs available to various groups have been described as 'exclusive' depending on the offer at the time. These have included both new and existing customers as well as tariffs offered through nominated groups or third party brokers like some of our past Collectives.
I suspect our advisor was referring to our most recent Fix Online Exclusive tariffs. Some of these were restricted to new customers only. The latest, version 8, was withdrawn from sale yesterday. I posted a bit more information about this earlier today on the thread below.

Sorry the information you were given wasn't the best Smodlet and hope this explains.

Mini bit of positive feedback:
I had quite a long 'story' with switching my Gas supply over to EON. There was some confusion from 'both sides' in this resulting in conflicting letters and no card for about 2 months. That and some minor payback (under 50) however by the time it got 'sorted' that was already cleared with the old supplier.
Anyway after a couple of recent phone calls and making sure that the new card was not a reset one (I'd taken details regardless) all was good.
Having had a huge '3 visits to adjust' saga with BG on this I was quite concerned obviously about a repeat as the previous issues were BG's adjustments being incorrect (yes I can prove it, I have paperwork)
Summary here being: It is a question of getting the right person with the right access level who understands -exactly- the concern at hand, then there was not really that much of an issue. So the delay was slightly my previous experience elsewhere and not wanting to repeat it with EON.
Pleased to say today was the day to try the new card out, as I'd purposely run the credit down as I'd still had conflicting reports on it resetting this regardless. Anyway all went well, nothing that should not of been there appeared (so far, a week's time will tell if any messages are sent no doubt) so this is my mini "praise"0 -

If you're already on an 'Exclusive' EON tariff which you would have obtained through a third party such as uswitch then once your current tariff ends then you could go onto another 'Exclusive' tariff (whatever that is at the time) provided you sign up through the third party again. However a word of warning: EON don't constantly have such tariffs available through third parties.
Spot on Highland76. We took the last Exclusive tariff from sale last week and haven't replaced it.
Not sure if we'll be doing any more as we only find out at the same time as everyone else. Our website and the Price Comparison sites are the best places to see what's available.

Morning AndyCF and glad all went well when using your new card.
Many thanks for taking the time to post this - it's greatly appreciated.

I recently joined E-on, and already have smart meters which were fitted when I was with NPower. I left them and joined SSE, at which point my 'smart' meter became a 'dumb' meter.
I am now being bombarded by letters and text messages from E-on saying I agreed to have smart meters fitted as part of my tariff agreement (Fixed Online).
I did not agree to that, and stated during my sign up process that I already had smart meters at the property.
I have just checked the T&C's of my tariff on the E-on website, and its states the following under clause 11.1 'About this tariff':With this tariff you agree to be contacted during the tariff term for the installation of a smart meter. You're still eligible for this tariff if you currently have a smart meter installed or your property is currently ineligible for a smart meter.
Now that does not say I must have, or must agree to have smart meters fitted. In fact, it states that the tariff is still available to me if I currently have smart meters.
I never used the smart functions of the meters, and even when with NPower, they still made house calls to read the things!
I have no time to take half or a full day off work to have more meters fitted, that will become 'dumb' again should I leave E-on.
I see an E-on rep posts on here, so I wouldn't mind a comment from them on this matter, and advise how I can resolve this, as I don't want new smart meters fitted, and it is debatable whether they are even required as part of the Tariff, despite what they are telling me.
Thanks

Just seen this post on the previous page:Hello pompeii and, yes, you can ignore/turn down our requests to have smart meters fitted.
As per my previous posts in this and other threads, smart meters are optional and customers on our Fix Online tariffs only agree to be contacted about having them. As you quote, this forms part of the T&Cs (section 11.1).
Totally agree, it would better if this message was displayed more prominently and I've raised this with my bosses.
Hope this explains pompeii.
Malc
Yesterday I received a text message which stated the following:
"Hi, it's E.ON. When you signed up to your energy tariff you agreed to have a smart meter fitted."
I think EON need to look at the messages they are sending people, if what 'Malc' says above is true, and the fix online Tariff does not require you to have the smart meter fitted.
It is also misleading in that it implies that the customer has agreed to have the smart meter fitted, when I did not agree to this.0
