There was a guy in my class at catering college who was a chronic bullsh1tter. He used to tell everyone who would listen that he had worked for Gordon Ramsay in the Oxo Tower and knew the man well and had been trained by him personally.
...except Gordon Ramsay has never had a restaurant in the Oxo Tower.
If I remember correctly, it turned out he had been working in a Harvester. And I know he's now working in a Hungry Horse, microwaving people's dinners.0 -

His estate agent 'transfered' his deposit from the old place to his new property (is it possible really???)
Actually, yes it is. My sons landlord did the same with his property twice. It is a rented property (otherwise he couldn't be behind on his rent) so the deposit is a security bond not a payment of rent so it can be done.
I know several other people who have had properties and moved with the same landlord and carried the bond over.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi pigpen. I thought if you were behind on rent and got evicted. The deposit would have gone towards the behind rent.
According to him, the council helped him with admin fee so I thought it is not the same agency nor same landlord.0 -
someone I know has a child who is always ill. The boy is 5 and he has had meningitis 5 or 6 times- always life threatening. The mum has had it too and was in hospital overnight.
The worst thing is the little lad's grandma is a nurse at the hospital he is always being rushed too (once for a blocked nose!!!). Sadly I think the hospital think there is a case of Munchausen's whereas I think it is drama queen at work.0 -
I used to be friends with a neighbour. Our daughters were similar ages. She used to tell some tall tales i used to believe then took with a pinch of salt. She had a story about practically everyone in the street. Considering we all moved in around the same time hard to credit after awhile. I had a big fall out with her over nothing.
Apparently i was at it in my kitchen with some random bloke that rumours came back to me from someone she told in the next town who was distantly related to me. They believed it unfortunately. After all why would someone make something like that up for.
Just before my other neighbours moved they told me it was because she had told another neighbour i was a prostitute! She told my ex i was an unfit mother. Came to a communal bbq drunk attacked a neighbour from another street ranting punching and pulling her hair out. Bit my ex trying to stop her , gave this poor woman trying to help who had just got away from an abusive ex a black eye. She got a slap on the wrist for that she told the police the person she went for first had tried it on with her boyfriend (she had never spoke to him).
She knew of 3 prostitutes usually someone she had fell out with and her ex's partners.
Was caught out slagging off a housing officer at a big do when the person was was slagging off too was his wife! Rumour has it she was told if she told that story one more time she would be kicked out of her house.
All the workman that come to her house fancy her and try it on according to her. I was telling one workman to watch out for her jokingly and he said they have to watch out for spurious claims and thanks for the heads up he would get another workman to go in with him.
Personally i think people who don't know her well believe her. Its so hurtful when you are on the end of a lie. Anyone who knows me knows its bull. They laughed its so incredulous. Its affected who I talk to and how friendly I let myself get with others which is a real shame. This was all quite a few years ago it all happened. Mud sticks and its made me a bit paranoid.0 -
My sixth form boyfriend. Where do I start with this guy?
He lied about everything. He'd tell you he had fish & chips when you'd walked past him & spoken to him at lunchtime & he'd had pie. He'd tell you he was at the pub the night before when no-one else who had been in that pub had seen him. He'd tell two best friends different stories and seemed to enjoy being caught fibbing. What on earth is that all about?
He told everyone including his tutors that he wasn't at college because he had annoyed his parents and they had gone to work and locked him in the house and taken all the keys. I didn't believe him but told him to get a spare one cut and keep it secret. Needless to say, when a tutor brought it up with them on Parents' Evening, they weren't locking him in at all!
He told me his last girlfriend had cheated on him, got pregnant and their parents had pushed them into a shotgun wedding. It only came to light years later that there had been no other man, and she'd dumped my boyfriend because he was inappropriate with her 13 y.o. sister! Which explained the teeth he'd supposedly broken playing rugby (he knew bog-all about rugby and wasn't remotely sporty) the 13 year old's big brother who, incidentally, did play rugby, and his teammates, had kicked seven bells out of him for trying to paw little girls.
From beginning his relationship with the girl he dumped me for, he spread rumours weekly that she was pregnant, that they were engaged, alsorts, then claimed I/my friends/my family was telling the tales because I was jealous. Except the only person anyone heard these rumours from was him!
Just about everyone he knew was at death's door at one point or another. Again, when caught telling two different stories about the same person's illness, he tried to blame me for starting the rumours!
He claimed I was in hospital after a suicide attempt after being raped and had been diagnosed schizophrenic. I'd been in hospital for diabetes complications, wasn't mentally ill, and I have never been raped.
To say our actual relationship only lasted 3 months in lower sixth, I only managed to get him out of my life when I finished college and left for uni. At which point he began stalking & harassing my younger sister!
Head-job!Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -

To clarify-in order to obtain a full apprenticeship level 2, one must achieve an NVQ level 2 PLUS certain "key skill" certificates (notably numeracy and literacy plus others depending on the apprenticeship)
Credit was given for maths & English GCSEs in grade A-C for 5 years and D-F for 3 years that meant exemption was granted and re-sit of key skills was not required.
Regardless of grade, if exams were over 5 years old they were not acknowledged by the awarding body and therefore keys kills exams and coursework had to be completed.
Apologies that I did not explain this in fullness originally. I hope it is now clear.
Please note this was the situation 5 years ago when I was an assessor. It may have changed.
I remember when I was in the 6th form they introduced the key skills exams/coursework and we could take them if we wanted.
So I took the literacy exam for key skills. It was so easy I felt like I was doing an exam from primary school around yr3-4 standard, it was a complete joke. So I didnt bother to do the coursework. It just seemed laughable.
I thought I had heard they had scrapped the key skill things now though although I could be wrong.0 -
At school I had 2 close friends, one was an appalling liar. If you had something she had 2, you know the type. If I liked a band she'd seen them live, got all the albums. Other friend made a band up once on the spot, winking at me and asking if I'd heard their new single. "Oh Yes!" other friend replied and went on to tell us how she owned all their albums.
We still see her occasionally, she claims she and her OH have a household income of £100k yet she lives in a rented house. One of my best friends has the same job and the salary is nowhere near the £50k a year she claims it is.
Her daughter has every illness known to man (and some unknown), despite the fact the child is 8 she still cuts up all her meals for her. Oh, and daughter is of course so exceptionally clever and way ahead of all other children.
Shame really because when the bullcrap stopped tripping from her tongue she could be lovely.0 -
I don't need to make anything up, my life is insane enough without tall tales!
I know the feeling :rotfl:
My ex went around telling the neighbours I had mental health problems and made things up (presumably in case I told someone how abusive he was!)Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

It's certainly not universal in the experiences that I've encountered, and as far as I'm aware, my GCSE/A-Level Certs and (Russian) Degree cert (2003) have been accepted without a problem. This was both when I was employed and when I've been asked for proof of qualifications now I'm a Co Director (Both times I've had to show them was for a Directorship of work-related organisations.)
