I used to be an NVQ assessor and people get the raging hump about it!!
Plus how does that work in practise, when does anyone want to show their A and O level and or GCSE certs to anyone who would dispute them, if there's no suggestion or suspicion that they're faked. Or is there a lot of fakery these days.
As you can see, that's a new one to me so if you'd like to explain that a bit more I'd be interested to hear some more about it, ta if you do.0 -

Not that it would likely arise as when would I ever want to prove that to anyone.

I don't get this either - so by the time you've finished your degree your GCSEs aren't recognised anymore?! Except that lots of employers (mine included) ask for a degree and 5 GCSEs. Would like to hear more about this too!0 -
on a serious note - having seen and heard the complete tosh my work colleague comes out with on an almost daily basis, I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her, I wouldn't tell her anything about me or mine.0

Glad some of you are enjoying this thread too. I can't believe how common these lying toe rags are either.
Happy moneysaving all.0 -
I just don't know how people keep up with all the lies. I'd find it far to stressful remembering what I've said to whom. Having said that, these pathological liners don't seem to care!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Blimey oh Reilly this reminds me of arguing with stroppy candidates as if I make the rules!!!
To clarify-in order to obtain a full apprenticeship level 2, one must achieve an NVQ level 2 PLUS certain "key skill" certificates (notably numeracy and literacy plus others depending on the apprenticeship)
Credit was given for maths & English GCSEs in grade A-C for 5 years and D-F for 3 years that meant exemption was granted and re-sit of key skills was not required.
Regardless of grade, if exams were over 5 years old they were not acknowledged by the awarding body and therefore keys kills exams and coursework had to be completed.
Apologies that I did not explain this in fullness originally. I hope it is now clear.
Please note this was the situation 5 years ago when I was an assessor. It may have changed.0 -

No one is disputing the taking of the exams or their results.....as I pointed out, it is about "recognition"
As you realised, I chose my words carefully. Can you IMAGINE the times I had to tell a straight A 22 year old that they had to do more maths coursework and an exam as their GCSES were no longer recognised :eek:0 -
A colleague of mine claimed 3 times that his mother had died (and his father many years before). Then he was his mother's full time carer. Then his mother did (really) pass away, and all of a sudden, his father emerged. He still claims he's an orphan (even though he's close to 40).0
