He might well have been horrible, but I don't know how being South African should prevent him getting a job.I worked with another guy who was south african. I never knew how he got hired as this was actually on his cv, he was in special forces in South Africa. now one lists special forces on your cv unless you are applying somewhere where that skill set would be useful, surely? His first day gives a run down of the nightmares, the people he's killed, the missions, you know, the general ice breaker stuff you say upon meeting four women you will be sharing a finance department office space with.
Well, there was at that time (may still be, I haven't checked) an entire website dedicated to unmasking people who claimed to be ex special forces in South Africa, apparently there were A LOT of people who did this. He was reported by me and named and shamed upon their website within two weeks, along with copies of all of the correspondence they had with him telling him to stop lying.
The poster wasn't saying he shouldn't get a job because he's South African. The way i read it was that he shouldn't have got the job 'cause the company should have easily checked (as the poster did) and found out that he was lying about being in special forces in South Africa.Sealed Pot Challenge member #071 VSP #4

I know someone that can speak to dead popstars, beat that!
Special powers he has there, being able to raise the dead :rotfl:The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
I worked with a guy who was lovely, but always lied and over-embellished every story! He always had to have the biggest/most expensive etc... and always ran into and chatted to celebrities when travelling etc...
I'm quite sure all the stories started off true (he travelled a lot for work), but then they just went off track.
The rest of us in the office had no idea why he felt the need to lie, but we invented the bullsh*t button, so when he was telling a story, and we felt it had gone beyond truth, we slapped an imaginary "STOP" button on our desks, and others then slapped theirs if they agreed he was lying.
I feel kinda mean for doing that, but just don't understand why he had to lie all the time - perhaps he thought we were all gullible and stupid?!?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Why have an invisible one when they are already out in the market!

No Justamum, being South African shouldn't, and as far as I am aware doesn't, prevent you getting a job.
Listing being in South African special forces on your CV that you disribute to agencies for temp roles in accounts should have raised some questions though.
It made more sense explain he was South African and that it was South African special forces at the begining since all of the information, like the website you can report them to, was specific to that country. If I cut you out of my life I can guarantee you handed me the scissors0 -

I assumed they were joking...0 -
Poster doesn't say that, it clearly refers to the following part.

Ok. I must have just misread what was written. It's easy to do that with the written rather than the spoken word.0 -
I've got a cousin who's pretty good at the b*ll. When he left school he was in the Merchant Navy and worked on the Canberra. Then the ship was commandeered for the Falklands. However he claims that while on board going down there they all trained with the soldiers on board and he learned how to use the weapons etc. However my husband more recently worked with a soldier who had gone down to the Falklands on the Canberra, and he said there wasn't a cat in hell's chance that civilians would have been allowed near any of the equipment. My cousin also likes to make out he was quite high up in the rankings (second mate). We found the ship's manifest for that trip quite recently and he's listed as a cadet!
His sister claims that when she left school she went off to university to do a biology degree, but dropped out in the first year, whereas I know that she left school with hardly any O levels, went to the local college and started a business studies course, then dropped out of that and went off on someone's private yacht as a crew member.0 -
Wow a lot of this reminds me of the sales director at work. Apparently a long time ago he worked as a zoo keeper and basically tamed a wild monkey with just a touch of his hand. Oh, and he was only a zoo keeper because the m a f i a (why is that treated as a swear word??) were after him.
He basically invented the first IBM computer.
Hes quite upset about Kate Middleton being pregnant because now he can't join the royal family to go shooting.
Ugh so many stories... I can remember only remember a handful. I think maybe my brain has a b*llsh*t limit, ones its reached any new b*llsh*t pushes some old out...0 -

Did he say why he can't?? lol. Why would a pregnant woman stop him doing anything?Sealed Pot Challenge member #071 VSP #4
