Car seat base so you can just clip the car seat straight into the car. Doing the whole seatbelt thing is fine until it chucks it down and the longer it takes the wetter you get...

We don't have 2 sets of changing stuff but got a box it all lives in and comes downstairs every morning. We use a travel changing mat as the proper one is in the nursery (un used, lol).

A pram the car seat can click into. When LO is fast asleep and I'm literally just popping into tesco for one thing I really can't be bothered to get him out (and wake him up!). Instead straight onto the pram and off we go!

Vibrating bouncy chair. This gives me 10 minutes to put clothes on or do the dishes! Lol

    Muslins in EVERY pocket! Lol

Sealed bin for the bedroom for night changes. Who wants to walk to the kitchen bin 3 times a night.

Changing bag def def go to boots and get the free baby club one :) just sign up online :)

thnx very helpful .. I signed up to boots baby club - will they send me a free changing bag? thnx

The best, best, best thing we had was a travel system. Being able to unclip the car seat and pop it straight onto the pram and vice versa without waking our little boy up was a godsend. We had so many comments from our parents and their friends all saying that they wished they had had one when they had babies.

Which one did you go for? :)

One thing that I love is my quick cup kettle, while I warm a bottle I can make myself a cuppa in under a minute :-). not strictly essential but made the night time feeds much nicer.

The one item we have used more than all others is a star wrap from Tuppence and Crumble http://tuppenceandcrumble.com/shop/index.php?route=common/home

We use it all the time, as it saves wrestling her in and out of coats and if she is asleep, we can slip it on/off without disturbing her, It is also pram and carseat friendly. I'm definitely getting the next size up when she outgrows this one :D

am i the only one who read this and thought its a bit rude to have a baby shower and expect people to buy you gifts - even worse to send out a list?

baby no 1 due in september, and if anyone wants to buy a gift when visiting baby that is fine, but i certainly won't be making a list and sending it out to people and asking them to buy me things! I suppose that is one way of saving money....

I didn't even notice that!!! Oops!!!

Yes, I too hate the notion of baby showers.

    Good luck with your baby!
