Skint.. Ds2 had awful jaundice, he looked like one of Mr Wonkas employees! for a long long time .. the lamp therapy didn't touch it. We couldn't have him in the sun as it was about -15'C.

There are different types of jaundice in babies and breast milk jaundice (rather than physiological jaundice which is very common) can last 10 weeks or so .. it may just be that! the enzymes in breastmilk cause the bilirubin to be reabsorbed increasing the jaundice.. in effect feeding more makes it worse but it is completely harmless.

Most decent PCTs have the biliblankets available for use at home so they don't have to have them back in hospital.. you can also hire them.

Thanks so much Pigpen:T Yes, poor Holly has a lot of bruising on her from where they tried to cannulate her which contributes to high bilirubin levels as well as being that little bit early and her body being understrain with low blood sugar that first 24 hours and not getting enough to bring her out of hypo straight away :(

Never heard of biliblankets with my son, but he had several days of light therapy in SCBU as he was very very yellow and was at an acceptable level before I brought him home.

I will mention biliblankets to midwife when she comes tomorrow, as I really don't want to be travelling to and from the hospital and disrupt Holly's feeding (i doubt that I will be admitted with a bed overnight for the time she is in receiving treatment) and I don't wish to impose on the EX staying here longer on a just in case basis.

i will let you know how we get on

Glad its the kitchen tomorrow, I appear to have half a loaf of breadcrumbs swept into my cutlery drawers in my absence, so that will need attention along with quite a lot of other things - onwards and upwards -

piigpen thanks for the nikwax advice yesterday
ionafan yes it was me with washing up mountain, put it off because boiler was broke and no hot water, but it really would have been better little and often than standing with a huge pile of about 4 meals worth of pots waiting for endless kettles to boil- LESSON LEARNED
managed about 4 inches of water in a bath last night after boiling endless kettles and saucepans hopefull should be fixed in time for a decent bath and hairwash tonight
just gto to declutter the boys then make a start on the lists for today - luckily treated kitchen as ROD yesterday so lots of todays list got done then, but still have lots to keep me busy.

    Morning all

DS3 didn't have too bad a night but was in with me until 6:15, he is now asleep in his bed. I still didn't get a whole load of sleep.

DS2 away to school so I've decided to play by the frog rules and munch first thing. I've done my car tax, now I have my MoT so I'm going to spend until 9am doing paperwork, writing the dreaded report.
