  • Hi,

Has anyone tried Costco for glasses? I am thinking of going there because I want to try the glasses on first also I'm hoping they are quite cheap (but probably not as cheap as buying off the internet)

I'll let you know how I get on.

    Cheers

FYI You can actually send off to Glasses direct for frames to try on before you buy but i believe they make a charge for the service.

My uncle bought a pair of glasses from Glasses Direct for £17 (frames only I think) and they are great. Smart and trendy.

Remember that your optician is REQUIRED to give you a copy of your prescription

To the OP: If you want a cheaper pair from D&A then they do standard CR39 plastic lenses, which are much cheaper than the Nikons they like to sell, and great if you dont need the anti-reflection and scratch coatings. Depends what you wear your glasses for. I would be wary of Glasses Direct as it is hard to make sure the frames fit/suit and to get them adjusted to your face (I wear mine all the time, so this is important)

I've found this other site which was recommended by a friend - ordered a pair of specs and in 5 days they where delivered - excellent quality frames and the price was unbelievable. The site is worth looking at its https://www.spexmaniac.co.uk - I would recommend it to anyone :T :T

Just got a new pair of glasses from glasses direct and was very impressed with the service!

A friend recommended them to me (he bought a pair from them - and said what value for money they are!) I have to agree, got them within 8 days from ordering, same size as previous glasses so they fit perfectly and I am so pleased with them. Good quality frames and very trendy looking! You get a nice case and cloth and the 100% money back guarantee is very good. My standard pair (with free stratch resistant coating) cost me £16.50! I am not prepared to pay High Street prices for glasses and will definitely go back to glasses direct in the future!
  • I have used Glasses Direct on 4 previous occassions with no problem but on my most recent order it is turning into a nightmare.
I would strongly suggest that until Glasses Direct sort out their website problems and start replying to customer complaints that you steer well clear.
  • i have used glasses direct on several occasion, have always had them within 7 days and i know through a friend of mine that you can also send them your nhs voucher if you are entitled to one

  • Have had a few pairs of specs over the last 5 years from

    www.39dollarglasses.com

Cost me £28 inc p&p from New York.

Not a problem with them at all - fast service, great glasses
