Anyone used Glasses Direct??

HI y`all !!

Just wondering if anyone has used glasses direct, I know there prices are very reasonable and after getting my eyes tested this morning, was not willing to pay £200 for a pair from Dolland an aithcinson !

Or does anyone know of any more glasses companies !!

Cheers !

    I've used them, excellent service & was very happy with my specs. However, many on these boards would not recommend getting sepcs for regualr/long term use from these types of companies as they don't measure the distance between your eyes & the lense or something:confused:, but to bite the bullett & pay the high street prices as you can't really put a price on your sight. Personally I haven't had any problem using my £15 glasses direct specs & would use them again:D .

    I used http://www.glassesonline.co.uk/ as they worked out slightly cheaper than Glasses Direct and I am very happy with my specs. I paid extra for anti-reflective coating so they were £27.00 all in - compared to over £150 at a high street optician.

    They are part of MyOptics so are a reputable company.

    Highly recommended.

  • I've just received glasses from Glasses Direct and very pleased with service and quality of product. However, delivery was approx. 2 weeks. I measured the distance mentioned earlier by using their method and it seems to have worked. Their frames are also differing sizes, i.e. bridge width and arms length etc. so I made sure to order frames same size as existing.

    Yes, just bought a couple of different pairs from them 2 weeks ago.
    They took eight days to deliver which was excellent.

    One pair was "standard" the other had transition lenses. Both came in hard cases at a total cost of about 80 quid which was about half the high street price of the equivalent.

    As regards sizing look at your existing frames, you may have 3 numbers on the end of one of the arms, these numbers are the Lense diameter, nose bridge pitch and arm length. If you can match those on the new frames then your done. You may need a magnifying glass to see them though!
    ;)

    All in all a good service from this company, i would use them again.

    There are many of these companies around these days - never used them.
    Here are just some;

    Hello, this is my very first post, so please be gentle with me! I have been lurking for a while, and have now finally registered so a bit nervous. Anyway I checked out Glasses Direct, went to my optition and got my eyes tested, got the PD too, no problem getting my prescription from the optition, and ordered two pairs of glasses. One pair with transitional lenses and one without. They came yesterday and are totally brilliant, two pairs for £70! (£15 frames, £40 for the transitional). I am so pleased, one pair would have cost me at least £120 from the optition, so well done Glasses Direct, oh, and it took about 2 weeks from the time I ordered for them to arrive.

    I am just about to order from optical4less.com. I have a very high +px and in the past to make them aesthetically pleasing I have opted for the high index lenses which are thinner and lighter. Here in the UK a pair with an index of 1.6 costs the minimum of $99 a pair. When I do purchase them from the above named site a pair with an index of 1.8 would cost me $88. For these extra thin lenses alone here in the UK I have been quoted upwards of £200. My order with optical4less.com would cost me a total of $127. ( the dollar is lower than the pound). Is this a saving or what.
