Options
Evening all

Just got a tablet PC. It's for my boy, he is 10. I want to put some maths/logic/learning games on it.

It is an android tablet with jelly bean 4.1 and google play. It has BBC media player whatever that is.

What do you great people recommend?

I don't mean to be thick but how do you put the games on it? It has wifi.

Thank in advance

  • What tablet is it? Does it have the play store installed? If so thats your place to download apps and games.

I know some of the lower end market tablets dont have Play store on them!

    Apparently it has....:p

OP, can't recommend anything in particular, but under 'settings' 'wireless & networks' turn on the wi-fi, find your wireless network, enter your wireless code and you'll connect to the internet. Click the 'Play' app icon and use the search to find the apps you want. You'll need to create an account (free) if you haven't got one, and (I think) add a payment card for any paid-for apps.

Installing apps is as easy as pressing 'install' and waiting for the app to download. You should get a notification in the little bar at the top of the screen to tell you when it's installed.

I can add the card and then tell my bank to cancel the card. That way no money can ever be taken?

You could do i suppose. Although i don't see the point as each time you buy an app it needs some sort of verification. So just say your the only one who knows these details and give the tablet to your son, he cant purchase anything without going by you first.

Google play is where you find the apps. Go to Free Apps and just try them out until you find one's you like.

    Why,????

If you want to pay money for apps etc. I think youre overthinking to be honest.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

  • There are plenty of free app games like Angry Birds etc.

I was reading the sales offers from maplins. Android tablet going cheap. But not chinese prices cheap.

It was only when you get into the spec it said apps can be downloaded from getjar.
I have used getjar for a long time. Got paid apps for free on gold specials.

But its limited compared to the play store.
