i get the asda rich one and i love it!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0

I'm not allowed caffiene at the moment, so am currently on the decaff (until my hands stop shaking at least :rotfl: ) I was pleasently suprised with Asda's rich roast decaff, it tastes absolutely fine.
If it wasn't for the headaches and the anger, I'd think it was Nescafe... :rotfl::staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
I can't stand nescafe - too bitter, I used to buy cheaper coffee but once I tried Douwe Egberts I won't use anything else except real coffee.
My mum has always liked nescafe and when I bought the cheaper brands and my parents came to visit my dad would always joke that I bought "bird" coffee cos I got it when it was going "cheap". Once I had been introduced to the Douwe Egberts by my brother I initially baulked at the cost compared to my usual cheap own makes, but then my mum pointed out that I happily paid over a £1 a cup in a cafe, so the more expensive coffee is still good value.0 -
Nescafe - 200g jars are just £1.99 at InStore (the new name for Poundstrechers, I've been advised). The label is in Spanish, and some on here have said that it tastes different from the UK stuff. I have tried both as an experiment and I couldn't detect any difference. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Not a big coffee drinker these days but it has always been Douwe Egberts for me. Nothing else tastes the same except ground coffee, even my frugal parents who buy value everything prefer the Douwe Egberts.0

Thanks everyone, think I'll try the Douwe Egbert's one that's on offer in Asda at the mo and budget so hubby can still have his nescafe fix, I'm loathe to try value coffee again though, it reminds me of the ghastly taste experiences from the 70's when there was a coffee shortage, coffee went very expensive and chicory became a 'coffee' substitute by all the manufacturers who started 'cutting' the coffee and making coffee and chicory blends, the higher the chicory content the cheaper the coffee was YUK!
My Mum used to swear by Mellow Bird's coffee (not sure if that is still available, or if it had any coffee in it lol!) She tried making us drink it and I became a tea drinker until I left home, the tea had more caffiene in! Since then I like my coffee with bite, I do like real coffee from places like Starbucks but at home I prefer it to be instant, because it's quicker. Reading all the posts I'm realising that I may be in a necafe 'beans' comfort zone and it may be time to try other coffees that may be even better. Although I think I'll give the value brands a miss just incase history repeats itself lol! Thanks for the input and inspiration

Ohhhh Mellow Birds, that takes me back:D I remember saving the coupons and sending off for the Mellow Birds Hits LP (I think it is still in the attic. LOL) We also had Camp coffee (stop it!) and Co-op Coffee bags for when we felt posh of had guests, they were sort of like filter coffee but without the faff.
After trying a cup of Tecso Value coffee and all the coffees from Lidle (all foul IMO) I reverted back to Tesco Regular too sweet, this is the cheapest coffee I can stomach.
Tea I can drink as cheap as chips, floor sweepings in a bag are fine by me but then I only drink 4-5 cups a year:DLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
I have to buy fairtrade- it's one of the few things I can't compromise on. It's often similarly priced to non-fairtrade ones anyway now, and there are so many different brands of fairtrade coffee.
me too - Id rather not drink coffee than drink coffee thats made under such slavery conditions.
I buy Buendia ( morrissons) for 1.99 and its absolutely lovely, all my visitors love it and ask what it is where we got it etc.
I buy whatever coffee for the cafetiere is on offer, at the moment we are on rainforest blend from tescos ( organic & fairtrade) and it was on offer for 2.39 and tbh we dont drink this often. Ive still got a free sachet of stuff that was given away in the observer, thats cafe direct mountain or something.
For people worried about the cost, I recommend Co-op own brand as they have very stringent human rights standards when sourcing thier tea and coffee, and they have excellent reputations as such . Co-op "99" tea bags are fantastic too IMHO, I need to find a co-op pronto to buy some more they are also ALWAYS on offer. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
