Coffee - Value, Shop's Own Or Brand Name?

Same here, not keen on anything other than Alta Rica which is quite pricy but I just drink less of it. Tea is the same story, Yorkshire loose leaf or nothing, can't stand bags0

DH is a coffee fiend so we buy huge 1kg tins of the stuff from Costco. Currently on Kenco Really Smooth (about £12 or so, but would cost £24 if bought in 100g jars from Sainsburys). It all tastes the same to me.Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0

Coffe is one of my few vices and it has to be fair trade. In order to keep the costs down I make the first pot with the right number of scoops and then freshen up each new batch with one scoop until the filter is looking like it might bust before starting all over again

mmmmm can't beat that "fresh" coffee smell - looking forward to dusting the coffee machine off when I get back! (Although in fairness it will probably be back in the cupboard within a week and I'll be back on instant:rolleyes: )It's not a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a man with a torch and more jobs

We buy Lidl's red label I think find it much better:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0

I use the co-op coffee because it is the best 'cheap but good-tasting' Fairtrade that I have found. OH used to insist on Nescafe, but is happy with this.0

I don't like the taste of Nescafe, its the only choice available at work so I drink tea instead!
At home though, I buy Asdas or Sainsburys cheap own brand decaf gold roast coffee (around £1.20 per 100g) and it tastes fine to me.
If its ever on offer though I prefer Carte Noire“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

I have to buy fairtrade- it's one of the few things I can't compromise on. It's often similarly priced to non-fairtrade ones anyway now, and there are so many different brands of fairtrade coffee.0

Oh it's got to be Douwe Egberts for me, it's quite often on offer in Asda, Mr Ts etc so I tend to buy 2 or 3 at a time when it's cheap.
Failing that, Kenco Really Rich.
I don't ever remember paying full price for a jar of coffee!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
I'll second the Douwe Egberts! Best coffee ever - apart from the real thing.0
