  • Morning,

Slipped last night and drank more than I should or wanted :o

As a result I woke up feeling rotten with a headache, 2 glasses of orange juice and some vitamins and paracetamol and I'm beginning to feel human again.

This is not good, I hate feeling like this and I'm annoyed with myself for it.

Wine is definitely not a good thing for me to drink.

I do have gin (a lot of) to drink, so I think may be some of that at night once the kids are in bed rather than wine may be better as I don't tend to drink loads of it??

Off for coffee and a catch up with my friend before work today :)

    Have a good day x

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Thank you so much guys, I was worried about being judged, the only person who knows how much I really drink was my DH & he never mentions it much, just that maybe I should cut back a bit. Ok I am going to take the plunge here, for the rest of March I will say I will have 21 AF days out of 25 remaining, its just learning to stop after one & not be greedy.

Pushing out the MSE welcome Wagon for you welcomewagon.gifth_welcome9.gif You're on the list and good luck with your AF journey.

I have the guilt this morning :o, fell at the first hurdle, I went to supermarket after work, was proud that I didnt buy evil wine, only for DH to come in with a bottle for me. I told him from now on if he is backshift not to bring me any in or phone me & ask if I want any. I have told him if I want it I will buy it, not told him I am cutting back or have joined here because then that would be admitting I had a problem :(.

I am ashamed after coming on yesterday & pledging what I would do. Tonight I am going to a prize bingo in a school that is 30 minutes drive away, by the time I get home it will be after 10 so I am determined, to get the dancing banana, do you need to reach your target??

I may try vodka & soda/lime but years ago I used to drink "long vodka" and got terrible stomach aches.

Thank you all for your kind words again, I promise to try better & aim to have a drink on Saturday only.

You've admitted it to yourself (and us;)) macpep so that's what really matters.

I haven't told my DH that I come on here and I've been using this thread for years!:rotfl:What I did tell him is that I joined SW and wanted to lose the lard. I needed to do that because he cooks my breakfast every day so he had to be inducted into the SW way. He knows all about wine syns!:D

When you get back tonight, why not just make straight for the kettle and have a hot chocolate and then an early night? Save syns for tomorrow, you'll feel better for it.
  • macpep you should read my previous posts - snap.
it will become easier and you will have setbacks its called life.
life doesnt stop just cos you are cutting down or stopping drinking in fact it will seem like life was easier when you were drinking at first.
you will find a new mindset and way of coping, trust me i know that its hard and frustrating and truly baffling but were all in the same boat.
in fact one day i was posting how good i felt and i had a good day no reason to drink and next minute i was drinking so dont blame yourself it is within us it is habitual and habits can be broken, one day at a time.

I am going to a prize bingo tonight, starting at 7 & don't expect to be back until near 10, no alcohol in the house so hot chocolate it will be, thanks for your kind words, syns will be used tomorrow, my DH knows I am on flylady & SW but not this one, for now its private :D

Thank you also for your kind words, I should try read back & your right I guess it is just habit, don't need to drink, just looked for an excuse to do it as it was a habit ie kids/work stressing me out, and I am not going to beat myself up over last night, draw a line under & start again until I get a dancing banana :D

I am reminded of something I read when I used to struggle with my weight, and the temptation, if you'd had a bad day and eaten all the wrong things, to give up on trying to lose weight completely.

It said "compare it to your car. It's a bit like having a chip in your windscreen. You CAN carry on, you dont park your car, get out of it, go and get a sledgehammer out of the boot and then smash the hell out of the rest of your car".....

:D That philosophy worked for me.
