Lilith, what a great outcome if cutting down on drinking allows you to afford a lovelier house! Every time you walk in your garden or sit in your conservatory you'll be able to quantify how much better off you are.

Welcome MacPep1, as has been said, this forum isn't judgemental. Everyone is supportive, we all know how insidious the wine devil can be, whispering "go on, you'll be fine" or something similar.

7/31 AFDs for me, and I have the challenge of a visit to my family in Liverpool this weekend for Mother's Day. I haven't said I'm AF although they knew I did have a dry January. If I'm the designated driver that solves Mother's Day. Saturday night might be the hardest time. Do I have "the conversation" perhaps? There are 2 dry alcoholic relatives, and one who died years ago who was but never admitted it. There's a tale from generations ago of my great grandma leaving her property to the son who lived with her because he didn't drink. He went on to drink himself to death in a relatively short time! My brother also seems to have a problem, if I read between the lines.

    Happy days :-)

I may not log on this weekend, so stay safe everyone.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Sorry I been so quiet, my daughter loves playing Moshi Monsters at the moment and I can't always get on it lol.
7 AF days this month 4/5 SNC this week and only
5 drinking days of 2013 so far and low units per drinking day.
I feel great, my son had a GA for 4 teeth extraction today and I am sober and looking after him where as usually when under stress or upset I would be looking for chemical calm, but I think because my last drink was 14th Feb I am getting used to not having the hand to mouth action of drinking. It is a learned behaviour and by not doing it so often I am not registering it is missing so much. Hope this helps, I love you all.

    Hi Everyone

I wonder if I might join you? Someone from the SW thread mentioned this one but it took me courage to come and admit I drink too much. I drink out of habit, usually a bottle of wine a night :o.

    Hello,

Wine is sadly very more-ish! I had myself in this bottle - a - night cycle for about a year. I stopped buying wine and got a bottle of vodka/gin Plus actual Measure and had vodka and slimline tonic (double) in a long glass with lime! One or two of these sipped in an evening is better as myself and other half found we would have 2 drinks each then stopped! As there is the option there to have more you don't feel that you are being denied but at the same time you don't feel you have to finish the bottle like with wine!

Meanwhile, 7 AF nights to report!! Off out to a celebrity chefs restaurant tonight where I will have a few drinks!!

Have a great, clear headed weekend!!
