10/20 AFD's and 1 SNC please.0
-
Hi Shaggy and Mackeroo,
I'm definitely AF this evening (now that I am through the potential minefield of preparing/eating dinner, I know I am fine!) and therefore am at 7/10 AFDs please and 1 for the SNC.
I dont know if anyone else finds that the nightmare part - I've got into the habit of putting the kettle on as soon as I get in and having a cup of herbal tea or hot chocolate which puts me right off the idea of having a drink (normally previously would just open fridge door and get the wine out...).
thank you!
I can totally identify with this and use the same 'kettle on' technique. It's also useful late at night. I'd go out and have a nonAF evening (usually when driving) and then come home and sink a bottle no problem. I'm convinced it's about breaking a habit. It's a habit I missed dreadfully at first but it can change with practice.
I'm planning today as a non-AF day (catching up with old friends) although not 100% decided.
7 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
I think you are right maman, a great extent of it is years and years of habit which is tough to break at first. I guess it's going to take a while.
I am now getting anxious about a planned night out next week. i have planned to drink (going out to dinner with husband) but am now wondering, how much and what, and what will it be like? Will I enjoy it or will I be worrying too much about when to stop. I guess the sensible thing is to set an amount in my mind and stop when i get to that point so it is pre-determined. But it kind of feels wrong to be thining like this when i presume that other "normal" people would just go out and enjoy themselves, have a couple of drinks and not give it minute's thought.....Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Hi everyone, feeling better today even though I am physically and emotionally drained (if that makes sense lol). Thinking about it it was a bit callous writing what I wrote yesterday as I didn't think that some people may have lost family or friends to drink so I am very sorry if I brought back bad memories, I did not want to go for the shock factor and I hope it didn't come across that way. I wanted to get across how upset and what a waste it was and so much regret and guilt, he was only just 67 hadn't even been retired 2 years after working for the NHS for 35 years in the same place. If they find liver disease when the PM is done, I think it will have an effect on me.
No-one is blaming my uncle for the way he chose to live, but they loved him so much and he chose not to go the doctors for 6 years and my cousin rung up for his blood pressure prescriptions every month and he said he was taking them but hadn't picked them up for 6 years. The doctor told him that he couldn't drink with the medication at all and that's why he told everyone he was taking them when he knew it would kill him to drink and take them, so it was an easy choice for him just drink and don't take the tablets. Alcohol is a drug of choice, we have also found out that he smoked in private. I love my uncle even though he wasn't so close to me as my cousin but his death will not be in vain because I can see that alcohol takes from everyone, not just the drinker but everyone that touches that drinker's lives, and that drinker is me, so when I drink I affect everyone around me, that surely can't be right. I don't to make everyone upset because they are watching me killing myself slowly and they can't do anything but watch.

Hi all, 18 AFD for me please Shaggy.
Head still not feeling right, so haven't been able to go to the gym for the last few days. I know resting is important when you're ill but I still miss it and feel like I am being lazy
Been looking on the internet for jobs as I think leaving my current job is going to be best for my emotional wellbeing. Not found any that have caught my eye yet but found one for OH and he's applying for it now. Typical eh? lol
I've seen another course I wouldn't mind doing after I have done this one. It's on Environmental Psychology and looks at how people's surroundings impact upon them mentally/emotionally. Liked the idea of it as architecture interests me, as does being outdoors. But there's no hope at it's down south in Surrey (the only course in the country by the looks of things) and I will be a perpetual student if I keep this up :rotfl:0 -
