Lileth, sorry you're stressed by work. Hope you feel better tomorrow. Work stress is always 10 times worse when you're feeling poorly.
41, sorry for your loss, that's such a shock for you all. I'm glad your decision to take control of your drinking had been made before you lost your Uncle, and that you see it as a reinforcement of your decision.
17 AFDs for me now, and 48 in total. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Hi people. I just searched the forum for alcoholic and this thread came up. I have just in the last week admitted to myself, family, friends, doc etc that I am an alcoholic and need help. Had my first AA meeting on Friday which was scary and uncomfortable, but I survived. Have docs tomorrow. Not stopped drinking yet on docs orders but have cut down. Sadly think this thread may be too quick moving for me to keep up, but just saying hiI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Have a Happy one!
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

hi Shaggy, I was AF last night so that's 6/10 for me please.
One of the things I've realised over the past few AF days is that I use alcohol as a kind of comfort, a way of "treating" or "being nice" to myself. In fact it doesnt work does it?
As I've not been drinking I've been doing other things - reading books, listening to music, taking time to relax, long walks, doing a lot of thinking, drinking hot drinks and eating some cake from time to time... This is the real "comfort" and with my clear head I feel like I have a crystal clear view of things. I am no longer lurching from one day to another in a kind of haze, waking up and getting ready to get out the door in a rush, forgetting things, getting stressed and anxious.
I feel calm, orderly, in control and actually really enjoying getting up in the morning and looking forward to a new day.
Sorry if that all sounds a bit cheesy... it feels like I'm convalescing after a long illness and getting back to good health finally.
Good luck everyone today.Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...
