I would love to join not sure what challenge not got the hang of that bit even though I have been reading this thread all day.
I managed to stay af from June to October of last year but it is now creeping up on me and I would love to have support from you lovely peeps who seem to be doing really well.
Last drink I had was on valentines day and would love to stay af from now on.
Wheeling out the MSEfor you.
Mackeroo is running the school night challenge (SNC) and I'm running the monthly challenge. Do you want to set a target of AF days for the rest of February? From the 14th that would be 14 possible days and you have clocked up 2. You don't have to set a target - you can just be TF (Target Free).
So say you set a target of 12 days for the rest of the month then you would be 2/12 or if you set a no target then you would be 2/TF.
Hope that helps and hope you join in.What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Really sorry to read about your uncle, 41. I remember a few years ago when a relative who is a teacher found out that one of her pupils had died. She drank all evening, thinking that the tranquiliser would somehow help. All that happened is she woke up the next morning feeling hungover and feeling doubly worse. You definitely did the right thing in not going straight for a drink.0

I'm in a mixed mood today. I'm up to 15/27 AFD for February, which feels great.
On the other hand, I've just gone through my budget spreadsheet and it looks like my overall debt will have barely shifted this month :undecided This is mainly due to a 'necessary' one-off large purchase (a 2nd hand bed) and spending a fortune on commuting whilst I wait for my new season ticket to arrive. My only consolation is that I would have spent a lot more if I'd been drinking this month!0 -
Thanks for all your messages of support, means so much. My mum and uncle were 67 on 29th of January this year. He was in the pub on Thursday having a drink with my cousin's son who calls him grandad as his grandad is a bit of a waste of space, that is the last time he was seen. The police had to break in and found him blue and obviously dead but a paramedic had to confirm this, my mum is in bits because they haven't been on good terms for years, partly due to his drinking. I feel strangely calm as because my mum wasn't close to her family due to arguments me and my brother are not close to that side either. My mum is the oldest out of her and her twin and they fell out cos he kept all my grandparents stuff when they died, photos and everything and stayed in their house etc. I don't want to be found dead in my bed and not been seen for 2 days, is a drink worse losing your family over and being found by the police breaking down the door. RIP Uncle David. No-one deserves to die like that alone and only the drink for comfort.

41, I've always found it really numbing when I've found out someone relatively 'close' has died (not necessarily someone I know, but someone who was close to someone else I know). The tragedy is doubled when it's someone who's died due to something that could have been prevented. Somehow it really hits home and, after a little while, makes me appreciate what I have and how important it is to try to prevent it happening to others.0

Sorry for your loss 41 ((hugs)), I hope you are doing ok.
I feel rotten now, my head-cold has gotten worse and I feel unsteady on my feet. Was meant to be back at work tomorrow but I don't think that's going to happen. I think the cold has been brought on by stress though, I've been very stressed with work and was in tears today just wanting to pack the whole thing in (but I won't because we can't afford to financially).
I've ended up being the only paid member of staff in this charity (there were only two of us to start with) and am doing EVERYTHING. We're hoping to get more funding to get someone else in, but it's not guaranteed. Have been looking on the internet for jobs today and found nothing in/near my area so I think that's raised my stress levels
17 AFD for me please Shaggy, think I will go to bed and hope I wake up feeling a bit more 'with it'. Night all xx0
