Am still stuck on 5 AFD sAm trying to stay positive, bought C*bra alcohol free lager and with a dash of lime its fairly palatable. Was intending an af night last night then OH produced a bottle of wine from the fridge. Was a bit annoyed and refused one, but it kept niggling away at me and I cracked later on and had one.Am not too despondent its not going to be easy just got to try each day.Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0

I was reading the sorry tale about Paul Gascoigne over the past few days and came across an article by Greavsie (Jimmy Greaves) who said that even after 37 years of not drinking, it's all about not having a drink today.
I know that not everyone on here plans to give up completely, and most simply want to cut down for moneysaving reasons, but it did make me think.
It's the same as giving up smoking for some, I think. You just make the decision every morning that you're not smoking today - that removes the "will I?/wont I?" debate later in the day and makes it easier it stick to. It's easier than contemplating a lifetime - I remember thinking I could never enjoy myself, go out, have fun, mix with friends, go on holiday, without cigarettes. Now I do of course - life is better without cigarettes, as it turns out! I think it has to be the same with regard to alcohol for some of us.Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

It's weird because I don't think about my smoking day-to-day (I gave up nearly 4 years ago) but sometimes if I catch a whiff of someone else's I will sometimes think how nice it smells, and other times I think how awful it smells
So I think with smoking it is not something I am consciously having to think about not doing, but drink is a bit like that. Maybe it gets better over time, I just know I feel better without the drink (and cigarettes).0 -
Hi Shaggy and Mackeroo,
I'm definitely AF this evening (now that I am through the potential minefield of preparing/eating dinner, I know I am fine!) and therefore am at 7/10 AFDs please and 1 for the SNC.
I dont know if anyone else finds that the nightmare part - I've got into the habit of putting the kettle on as soon as I get in and having a cup of herbal tea or hot chocolate which puts me right off the idea of having a drink (normally previously would just open fridge door and get the wine out...).
thank you!Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

18/24 AFDs for February and 49 in total. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

18 AFDs and 1 towards SNC and almost 50 days!!0

Sorry for the flyby, I simply do not have enough hours in the day, I haven't even read anything on here since last week.
I will try to catch up soon.
Reporting the full SNC for last week, 1 AF day for the SNC this week and 13 AF's in total I think! Starting to loose count, but I think i've had 5 nonAF's this month so far.
Not sure if i'll make target this month as its a short one and I forgot to factor that in. In theory if I stick to my 2 non af's per week I will be.
Been finding it hard to stay on track. THe SNC used to mean that drinking didin't even figure, but last week and even today i have felt tempted. I put it down to emotions and tiredness and wanting my old life back. Really mising what I had today.Live for the moment and plan for the future0
