  • I really want that heart you get for 14 AF days, I know that shouldn't be the reason, but it is so very CUTE.

Not sure what is going on but I am feeling very weepyl and have taken myself off to bed with a horlicks.
Can it really be down to not drinking for two days? If so then that is frightening. I know I just need to get through it.....
Mrs Dee, it's okay, we have all done it. It's normal, just imagine you're watching a really sad film, and its about your life with alcohol. Now fast forward to the middle part where things are getting better, much better than you ever thought they would, fast forward again to just before the end and you don't recognise that the person on the screen is you, you did it, and today is just a distant memory. Alcohol is so cunning, before you know it you're drinking again just when you thought you had it sussed. I think you are very brave and insightful and yes it is frightening to feel weepy after only 2 AF days but the tears you cry maybe needed to be shed and you held them locked up inside turning to drink instead. Everytime you shed a tear you release toxins from your body, I know someone will be thinking, grab a glass then, but this is the break-up of a relationship with alcohol. You thought you had something good and then you saw the other side, the true colours. I hope this helps, I have to watch myself because sometimes when I feel good I feel like a drink, so trying to pre-empt that feeling. All the love I can send xx

    Hi MrsD

There's an organisational change phrase "the miserable middle" for halfway through a change process which is the most dangerous time for everything to fall apart and the organisation to give up on the change because the initial excitement at the prospect of the change has passed and the end seems impossibly far away.

Don't give up now, you've done so well and come so far, aim for the finish line with all the glittering prizes - health, happiness, debt-freeness, whatever your goal is.

Hugs for you right now, and for whenever you need them x
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Thank you. I feel very much on the edge of tears today and am at work. I am drinking lots of water and tea. It's given me quite a shock to be honest but you are both so right. Not drinking just for two days is giving me the time and clarity to see that things need to change. I also need to speak to DH as it's something we need to do together I think. Whether that means completely AF or aim for some kind of moderation (which may not be achievable, I think... at least for me....).
I do feel I am at a turning point and thank you for the support.
Going for another AF night tonight.
When joining this thread I thought I'd have some planned drinking for this month but I may reevaluate that as I am not sure it's worth it....
thanks again and have a good day everyone...xxx

Just a quick post from me this morning. 11 AFD 2 SNC

This whole thing is part of the LardLoss chronicles...I step on those scales every morning and get a massive buzz when I see a new low.

A lot of dieticians and foodies say you should only weigh youself once a week or once a month, because on a day to day basis your weight can go up as well as down (and sometimes if you see too many ups, you get angry and take the pain away with a bacon and egg sandwich)...but I prefer to do it daily. If one day is higher than the previous day I now think "meh", because I know that overall it's going in the right direction. And when it DOES hit a new low point, I do a silent punch in the air and whisper 'Lardlow'

In fact today....19 stone 2 pounds..."Lard low" (punches air)

Love this - and we could all chant 'Lard' and 'low' along with each clap on this clapping emoticon :T lol

It's snowing here, wish the damn stuff would just go away lol. It's very fine so isn't settling too much but we're on a bank so our car won't make it up the hill if it gets too bad :rotfl:

Almost forgot, it's 12 AFD for me please Shaggy!

Wow well done on the lard loss!! I agree about weighing in daily because an awful lot can happen between one week and the next and it's a long time!!

I've struggled with weight all my life but finally seem to have it under control by exercising and keeping track using the my fitness pal free app. Finally I am slim! It just took me around 50 yes to figure it out - lol!! So I have nailed smoking and weight, just need to get alcohol sorted...

Just had a cry at work which was v embarrassing but feeling better now
