  • Just typed a long post and lost it lol.
13 AF days and 3 SNC.
Gave a 70 year old man a lift to the pub last night and told him about the tranquilising effect of alcohol and that I'd given up. No response but I think he was shocked. He drinks whisky and we often compare drunken antics.
Happy Valentines Day everyone man or woman I'm not fussy lol.

Well I can't cut down, it's all or nothing with me I have come to the conclusion.

That is the conclusion I came to as well. It can be hard accepting it at first, but I have found when I stop and think about it, I am ok with that decision, it's everyone else that seems bothered!

When I've had alcohol in the house in the past, I feel on edge and HAVE to drink all of it, so I just don't buy any now and feel much calmer for it. I have also been out and just had soft drinks and felt fine :)

OH and I were due to go out for a nice meal tonight but our bank balances are awful and the anxiety over the money was getting to me, so we've cancelled our reservation and have bought the M&S Dine in for Two meal deal (with Elderflower Pesse instead of wine) which has saved us about £60. I am actually more excited about it than I was about eating out! :rotfl:

13 AFD for me please Shaggy :)

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Normal drinkers don't think they are drinking too much nor do they worry about their drinking.
I have a normal relationship with many things, but alcohol is not one of those. My drinking wasn't quite normal from the start.

As I was told by someone "If you need to control it, then it's out of control"

I'm not sure I agree with that tbh. I'm almost always counting calories and preparing spread sheets on a whole host of things from exercise to money to portions of veg and fruit eaten per day. Just because I control my money, exercise and alcohol etc does that mean it's out of control or being controlled?

I mean, if I didn't have any idea of what I was spending any money on would that actualy mean I was in control or out of control?

I'm sure there are plenty of overwight people who never think about calories - that doesn't mean they don't have a weight problem. And plenty of slim people probably do put a lot of thought into their diet and exercise.

    Just sayin'

May have seen you in the scrum in my M&S! I posted last night that we weren't doing anything for Valentines but DH brought me heart-shaped toast for my breakfast this morning so I've been shamed into it! I'm sticking with the duck and dauphinoise I (hurriedly) planned but got the deal and put the steaks in the freezer (very mse). I didn't go for the Elderflower Press.....

I think I was the only one in m&s not buying the meal deal - they couldn't restack the fridges quickly enough . I just didn't fancy any of the main dishes :o.

Well another one for me making 14 AFD please Shaggy. x

It was the dessert I was most looking forward to lol.

We got the poached salmon starter, the peppered steaks, roasted veg and a lovely layered dessert with biscuit base, treacle, caramel and belgium chocolate.

Oh and you get a small box of chocolates too, which we have also polished off :rotfl:

The Elderflower Presse was lovely, very refreshing.
  • I'm sorry guys, fell off the wagon. On my 3rd can of John Smith's and it is so gross. So much for my wise words eh? Trying to enjoy what could have been my first AF Valentines Day.
