Instead housework done, dogs have had a quick walk, soup on for tea & Im now off to sort out the spare room. A) because its full of projects I never get done because of glass in my hand & B) My partner wants the bed for a decent nights sleep....Yes I maybe 4 days AF but Im still snoring!!! Well done every one aren't we doing well?

Echoing the MSEers re binning the brandy. Unless you absolutely can't have it in the house can you donate it to someone who cooks, some booze is quite handy in the kitchen. Are you a cook? Treat yourself to some steak in a brandy deglazed creamy pan sauce....

ETA.. NYNS well done for not touching the brandy!!!

Yvieblue - that's the habit I want to discard. Coming down in the morning at the weekend to an empty bottle because it's just too easy. Don't even need to find a corkscrew these days.

Got up before 8am this morning. It's been a while since I did that at the weekend. Quite chuffed.

Might start treating myself to some nice cordial, some Bottle Green and the like. They're sometimes on offer.

How about going retro and do Steak Diane - you don't pour the brandy down the sink, you watch it go up in smoke instead!

Realistically that's going to b me too. Good luck if you try it tonight.:)

I'm not a beer drinker and I find most soft drinks far too sweet. When I'm in a pub/restaurant and not drinking I either have fizzy water or just plain tap! Good for the skin and makes me feel very virtuous.:D

I'm the same about soft drinks (or am I just too bitter for sweet?) In the pub/restaurant I go for soda water and lemon juice. Drinking a pint of this usually fills me such that I don't need another drink and, depending on whose serving, you can sometimes get this for free!
  • Thanks Doshwaster and jo1972, that's interesting to know. For my long term goals then 0.5% is fine for me, I want to exercise moderate consumption and feel comfy living with AFDs, low alcohol or a glass or two...with the last option not gaining too much of a foothold.

For now I really want to focus and take the opportunity to try a world outside cola and OJ and lemonade. I'll sniff out Becks blue.

Thanks for the advice re the drinks choice. I was hoping i'd be able to find something that was served in a wine glass :D
I think i am going to either get the Backs (if they serve it) or j20.

The Elderflower cordial with sparkling water and a sprig of crushed mint is lovely :)
Declaring early today so 4/31 - I'm in the mindset for a cosy PJs and a cuppa type of evening so I won't open a bottle.
This thread is definitely having an effect on me - I had a vivid dream last night that I was drinking a can of Lager (which I hate!) and woke up feeling miserable about not being able to declare an AFD:D

    Hello All

Do you mind if I gatecrash the AF party? My New Year's Resolution is not to drink any alcohol (much the dismay of my family/friends/ colleagues) but for various reasons I'm determined to do this - and I'm very good with my yearly resolutions so I reckon I can do it and ultimately find a proper balance for next year.

Have found this an inspirational thread so, if you don't mind, I'm going to "subscribe".

    Thanks all!

The good thing about a sober night in front of the TV is being able to remember what you watched the next day. In the past I've had to watch things again because I'd drank too much.

I did that with X Factor last year! *shameface*
