Hello, i am new to this thread.

Does anyone mind if i join in for January please? I did well over Christmas, i had 1 glass of Cava and 4 bottles of beer.

I felt better for it too :)

At the moment, i have at least 1 bottle of red on a Friday night, if not another on Saturday night :o Please don't judge me, i know that's a lot :(

I aim to cut that right back to only having 1 bottle a month, preferably the last weekend on the month.

So, starting from Jan 1st, can i please aim for 30 AF days.

    Welcome :)

It's difficult to post messages from this stupid little phone but just wanted to say that nobody has the right to judge anyone on this thread, I've been posting on and off for a number of years and we are all here for different reasons, to save a bit of money, to curb alcohol to weekends only or to abstain completely, everyone has a different relationship with alcohol. Mine is deadly.

Good luck with cutting back, I look forward to chatting with you :)

Thanks Jo, that is very kind of you :)

I am planning on spending £10 in January (the price i would normally pay for 1 bottle of red) on pampering stuff and marking the end of the week with a pamper session at home rather than a bottle or 2 of red :)

Other ideas i have come up with are (with a £10 budget):

    -New make up product
    -A new book
    -A new CD
    -A new Nail varnish

i am hoping to come up with some more ideas. It'll help with losing weight and saving money, as well as being healthier.

That's a really good idea as it gives an incentive. I have saved over £500 since I joined this forum in Oct.

Jo is dead right when she says that no one judges here and I for one was drinking 2/3 to a full bottle nearly every night so don't worry about your consumption.

I enjoyed my Christmas Day drinking pretty moderately (difficult when you want to have a little bit of every drink). I fell into the binge drinking category at 10 units but was drinking from lunch time till late and it's a one off.

So am still at 23 AF days for Dec.

Is there a new thread in January, or does this one carry on?

    Hi, Wanttobe,

One thing you'll find in this thread is we never judge, just offer support and encouragement. I guess because we all know how hard the struggle against alcohol can be. Whatever your reason for cutting down/giving up, we'll cheer your efforts on.

For myself, I haven't added any more AF days, but might manage another few more before the year is out. I was an angry drunk on Christmas Day, and apparently said something unkind to DH. I've apologised, but have no idea what I said. Roll on dry January for me.

On a lighter note, I'm now visiting my lovely mum for a few days. She's just gone to bed, and turned the fire off despite the fact that I was still reading. Looks like it's my bedtime then? :rotfl:

    Night-night, sleep tight xx
