Lost my way last night slightly, me and OH had a bit of a row (well actually it was more silence than rowing) and I got up coat on planning to go to the supermarket, turned right instead of left, bought beer and a tin of beans in the offy and came back and drank the beer down with some beans on toast. I tipped away what wasn't drunk last night. I'm not beating myself up, instead contemplating the reality of my statement on here about filling the void. I took my eye off the ball. Feel positive today. Non-alcoholic beer in the fridge, got choc Yule log, kids are coming to stay with me for a whole week cos their dad is going away for new year and life is good!

You've done very well so far, don't beat yourself up over a slip up. It gives me such a boost to see you all doing so well.

I'm counting down the nights to my fresh start in the new year. I've also been thinking about your comment of 'filling the void'. I've been to the library and got some books about travelling.

I love going on holidays and I want to use some of the money I save on drink to go away more. I also used to love motorbikes so I might get a bike for the summer.

Other than that I think filling the void will be more of a battle of the mind rather than being physically busy. When I used to work 2pm till 1030pm I still drank heavily after my shift. I cant be busy all the time I'm awake, I just need to be on my guard 100% of the time.

We'll find out soon enough if I'm up to it!

I've been there and I used to get back and get through a bottle in double quick time, playing catch up.:o Now I do a sort of visualisation thing and think on the journey home about how comforting I will find a lovely cup of tea/chocolate. I go straight in and put the kettle on. It can work.

:Tto everyone who's got back on the wagon after Christmas excesses

Beating yourself up just makes the void bigger. Utterly pointless.

Morning all :) Thanks for such a warm welcome.

I have just wasted my whole weekend by having a bottle of wine on both nights. I am naturally a morning person, but dont surface until at least 9am when i have been drinking :(

I am not waiting any longer, i am starting from today. No drinking alcohol until at least 31st January.

    Wish me luck!

I've already raised £50 this afternoon in the pub this afternoon although everyone was sceptical that I could do it.

    Brilliant. Thankyou.
