First of all, 6/14 please.Alex - well done at stopping at just the one :T. Don't know about you but sometimes I think that once I have had one drink that I may as well continue as I am disappointed in myself for having missed the chance of having an AFD
and then other times I feel proud of myself for having the control to stop after one drink - weird or what
I have been very much like that in the past, even before I started having AF days, I'd have a glass of wine with my dinner then think I may as well finish the bottle. After that, the spirits would somehow magically find themselves in a glass I happened to be holding. It became almost automatic.
Now though, I try to make a nice bottle of wine last more than just an evening and if I have an after dinner drink, it is just the one. Well that's the plan, can't say I always succeed.Green_Karen wrote: »Alex - Loved the quote about nothing sadder than sitting in drinking on your own! Oh the sad years I have frittered away!

I'm on
5 AFDs please Shaggy.
Almost succumbed at lunchtime but had a latte instead.
If I can get 8 in this week I'll be delighted. Getting to my 10 before Christmas starts proper is just wanted to do and then after that everyone's a bonus. Feeling confident.:D0 -

I have been surprised that I'm not sleeping through with all the AFDs. I wake up and then my head starts thinking. I hope to sleep till the alarm tonight. OH has had a cold and I feel like I'm fighting one off too. Maybe that's adding to my tiredness.
I found the same when I first stopped drinking and still do to some extent, with the waking early and head thinking. But I see it as a good thing, my brain is actually starting to function again. The tiredness was an inevitable part of weaning off for me and not related to waking up early full of thoughts. And the tiredness did start to go but the buzzing brain hasn't. I like to think I will start to have flashes of inspiration - hasn't happened yet but I am hopeful! :j

I'm still feeling a bit antsy not having wine in the evening but it gets a lot easier after I've eaten dinner.
Sleep well everyone.
If you're like me, at least you're not waking up thinking "OMG I feel cr&p. I'm not gonna drink tonight" like I used to, only to start again that evening.
xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

Good morning you fantastic people :j
I did it. :j Knowing I had you lot to talk to this morning made me focus and gave me the inspiration to push for another AF night.
I had the meal in a beautiful restaurant with my brother and sister and didnt touch a drop (just the apple juice and soda).:j
In the past I had started to convince myself that 1 glass of wine and driving was ok, well I was eating a meal wasn't I - flip me the rationale for having a glass of wine is crazy...isnt it?!so not having even a sip of wine was a massive step forward.:)
I did feel antsy all day and while I was at the meal but having to pick up my daughter afterwards kept me occupied so before I knew it I was home and in bed :T
Anyway - Shaggy please put me down for a
7/9 :j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Morning all,
Had a bit of a slip-up last night- had completely forgotten it was our anniversary yesterday (both of us had until we got home from work so at least neither of us were in the 'bad books') so we did share a bottle of wine in the evening to celebrate
.
Back to it tonight and I will definitely have to try my best to be AF until Friday evening to make up for last night's wine.
Congratulations on last night 5 year - you did so well :T.
Have a great day everyone0 -
Afternoon :santa2:
1 more AFD.
Aresenal Day today.
Happy 11/12/13
