I know what you mean Graeme. I also need to work on my recovery. During my assessment, the expression dry drunk was explained to me as someone who doesn't drink BUT hasn't worked on themselves in order to have a better life therefore, they are stuck in that miserable place and may have very little idea of who they are. That was food for thought! XXX

Woke up in middle of night by the resident mouse who I am trying to catch with not much success. Went back to bed and woke up about half an hour ago feeling great. I remember last Saturday morning too posting on here that I felt great. This is becoming a great pattern and I would like to wake up every Saturday morning feeling like this. By the way, I was born on a Saturday so that probably helps me appreciate it more.
Jak thanks for explaining what a dry drunk have heard it in the rooms but wasn't 100% sure what it meant.
Graeme what does AKAI mean, I am not very savvi with abbreviations lol.
Thanks for your posts I read everyone's and it helps me so much.
Jak I'm glad that your course went okay.

Barny well done on your 39 days AF for 2013. Lileth we probably looked like that when we started. I remember being so upset and humiliated when we did a production of Godspell in Comp and after the last night if you were 14 you could have a coke in the local pub with the sixth formers who produced the show. Of course I wasn't 14 til August and was well put out. I felt excluded and abnormal, I really wanted to fit in and felt that yet again I was the misfit and the loner. Fast forward 2 years and I was in a nightclub with the woman I babysat for drinking 6 halves of cider and being sick in a binbag in my bedroom. I had to lie to my parents, sneak about, and spend my babysitting money on going out or drinking in her house. I was friends with her for 20 years but had to end it as she used me and even though it was a one-way friendship I miss her and never had so much fun but always at a price.

Morning all, Hope you have a great Saturday. Plenty of clear heads this morning.
I'm on 4 please Shaggy.

A lovely clear head, and a clear conscience after doing the dreaded document and posting it yesterday.
A very sore body now though, as I did my 4th ParkRun (5k) then went straight to Zumba. How mad am I? Actually, the Zumba teacher wasn't all that great, so I won't be pushing myself to make it for 10am next Saturday. The best bit was shaving 8 minutes of last week's ParkRun time, yay! I'm still not very fast, but I'm getting faster.
DH is getting used to me being AF.What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
satchmo - i liken my progress to yours slowly shaving off the grip of alcohol. It won't happen overnight but I'm getting better at telling my mind and body not to drink.

I think I am getting old, they didn't look old enough to drink but maybe they look so young because I am getting older. Felt fine not having a drink, didn't feel the need at all
They didn't have lime and soda, so I had to have a diet coke and now I am bloated. Need to find some other drink choices

I had a friend like that and slowly distanced myself from her about 18 months ago. She was still into her drinking and I had moved on and I knew I would never be able to go out without there being lots of alcohol involved. And even if I didn't drink, I would end up having to make sure she got home ok, like I had done many times before.
Warbonnet - thanks for the recommendation0 -
I think the way alcohol is likened to a tranquelizer is an easy way of understanding the addiction. It's easier for me to get my head around that. It makes sense to me!
Glad you are getting into the rooms when you can 41, I've found them really useful but also very funny! The way people laugh at themselves is brilliant! I'm reporting early as i'm soo tired! 9 af for me! Interestingly, my sponsor said yesterday that it take the body, mind and emotions take about 2 years in total to get back to normal so that explains why I'm sleeping sooooo much!!!
