P.S. Hope you didn't cave in to daytime drinking Alex. I know it's hard but it does get easier as you replace one habit with another. I know you wanted to save some money but do think of your health as well. I enjoy the feeling of being in control. It's good to have will power.:)

I wish I could say I managed to stay AF today. However, I'd be lying if I said that. I did end up having a drink with my lunch (there should be no such thing as a liquor coffee) and a couple before my wife got home from work (she doesn't know). Managed an AF evening though. :)

    hi everyone.
    3/10 please Shaggy.
Managed to get through dinner without a drink (the difficult bit) then had a cup of tea and went for a swim. Now sitting back at home with a herbal tea, cuddling the dog and listening to some lovely classical music on the radio. It feels great and I know I will wake up tomorrow morning feeling fantastic.
    Have a good evening everyone.

You can see I'm a bit new at this so not sure how to count AFDs. Is it in a row? Or do people set a target? Would like to know to join in properly. Found it quite motivating tonight :o

Oh that sounds like a lovely evening mrsdee - the only thing I would change is that I would be cuddling my cat :).

Alex - put yesterday behind you and start today afresh - you can do it and we are all behind you :j

Maman - I know exactly what you mean - I always sleep so much better when I haven't had a drink - the wine makes for a very restless & fitful sleep .

Rosepetal - we all just set a target for the month and then report in whenever you want - it is useful for Shaggy (who does the totals) if you highlight AF days in red so they are easy to spot amongst the posts. Days don't have to be consecutive - just a running total for the month - good luck :T

AF for me yesterday so that is 10/14 for me please Shaggy.

Have a great day everyone :)

It could have been a lot worse Alex. I try not to drink before 6 p.m.(aka wine o'clock;)). The only exceptions are holidays or if I go out to lunch/have people round. It's not easy. I've been doing this for years and only on Sunday I found myself watching the clock.:( We're all motivated by different things to give up/cut down. For most of us it's a range of reasons then you need to prioritise. If I'm honest my list is topped by calories:o, quite a lightweight reason compared to health but it works for me. You can do this Alex.
  • Another AFD for me yesterday which takes me to 20/30 for the month. :j

I used to sit in front of the TV of an evening and if I didn't have a beer in my hand I felt lost.

Since cutting back I am actually doing more in the evening than I ever did. Last night for instance the TV didn't even go on, instead I did some writing for my blog and sorted out some bits for eBay.

I am starting to feel like a different person. :)

I know what you mean, skint dad. When I don't drink I feel like I have loads more hours in the day to do stuff!! Like reading, sorting out the study, going to the cinema etc. It's amazing how much time I wasted in the evenings just sitting around drinking....
