Fell off the wagon tonight as I was accompanying a choir and in true fashion we went to the pub after rehearsal. However, I did not spend any money so can having two FREE drinks count as alcohol free?:A:p

    Hello

Loads of great posts here! Welcome skintdad! Good luck mrsdee!

Went out with other half yesterday as both happened to be off, day trip up to London for lunch and a mooch around the shops. After 9 years together the chasm between us and the lack of things in common made it slightly uncomfortable and vert sad. As we sat in a trendy bar, me with my diet coke and him with his large glass of wine he commented on another couple nearby sharing a bottle of wine and having olives and happily chatting away, "we used to do stuff like that". It made me feel funny and sad and also tempted to order a bottle of wine if only to make the uncomfortable feeling go! Anyway, 12 AF days achieved as I did not weaken my resolve!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Welcome Skintdad

Congratulations Antonic on your 2 years AF - here's to your 3rd :j

Sorry to hear about your uncomfortable time in the bar stupotstu :( - you did so well resisting the temptation to give in and order that bottle of wine :T

    Alex - I like your theory ;)

Well done for getting off the mark mrsdee - the first one is always the hardest

    8/14 AF’sfor me please Shaggy :)
  • Hello and thank you welcoming me so nicely :)

Yesterday was quite stressful as someone tried to hack my blog :(, luckily it was all ok but for a moment all I could think about was having a beer to de-stress. Thankfully though I resisted - 14/30 AFD's for me :rotfl:

SPS - one of the hardest situations to be in & one I virtually always give in to so v v well done.

    Also Antonic :T

Hi Mrs Dee (remember your sig v well!), well done on the afd & echo others' sympathy re your Mum; expected or not it's horrible.

    Satchmo - "phew!!"

And back in the WB kitchen......
(I swear, if anyone would deliver takeaways out here I'd do it every night. An Indian place once stayed in business for just long enough to deliver here the once, I had friends over & we went to the pub & when we left there was someone in the phone box (ahem, a while ago) & my friends looked a bit surprised when I went over & opened the kiosk door, I just knew he was checking where our curry was to go! We're a bit remote...makes me a bit wistful all this gadding round London, I used to live quite centrally)

but back to the plot......following the kipper pate debacle I moved on to roasted tomato (home-grown) & red pepper soup.....didn't want to use the blender after roasting as it is too efficient & result is too smooth, so used the hand blender which after 5 mins was red-hot & packed up. Then tried potato masher to get rid if big lumps. Then, brainwave! The whisk! Brainfart more like; it just sprayed it all round the kitchen (incl newly clean jumper ), up the walls, omg. In the end I got the blender out so then had a preposterous amount of washing up for 3 bowls of tasty ketchup.

Today turned out alright after a poor start - dog throwing up at 4 a.m. (those kippers?) & finding 2 slugs on the kitchen floor first thing (cannot begin to describe my abhorrence of these vile creations) - we went for a picnic in the forest, in the pouring rain. Took the dogs, got food in Waitposh in Marlborough & after a walk ate in the car. Delish. Even the beetroot falafel (would you believe...)

Alcohol-wise things not so good, I don't hold on to my resolve for long :o but hope you don't mind I stay on here even if I don't seem to be trying - spirit is willing & all that. Every day starts with the best of intentions.

Tonight is spaghetti & "meat-free meatballs" - what genius came up with that product description?? i'm not even veggie - DD has been for 15 months now so as I cook for both.....stocked up on ham & salami for lunch tho :p

I like to think outside the box, especially on a hot day

Personal observation - most insidious side-effect of alcohol is making Come Dine with Me appear to be a good programme. IT ISN'T! However, it is on in 10 ;)
