Good to see so many of us off to a good start for the new month.:)

Ahem. Sorry to have gone awol for the entire month so far but what a disaster. Anyone seen that old film with Ray Milland in called The Lost Weekend? feels like Welcome To My World.

Take Tuesday, & please give it back to me lol, should have been the perfect start - I never see OH or drinking partner-in-crime BF on a Tuesday & I had a 7pm meeting at DD's school so what could possibly go wrong?

OH rang 11.30am "fancy a pub lunch?" He drove down to me & we went to my local but we inadvertently gate-crashed a wake, & what made it even more embarrassing was that we were the first there as everyone else was still at the crematorium :o:o. Anyhoo the landlady insisted we should eat from the free buffet rather than order lunch & then other people arrived so drink became involved in order to feel less awkward...only had 2 despite being cajoled to stay on after OH left, willpower eh?, but then 5 minutes after I got home aforementioned BF was at the door bottle in hand, day gone to ratchet, did not make it to school. I need won't power.

etc Wednesday & etc Thursday & etc Friday & yesterday (I don't mean there was a funeral everyday! Actually this is the second time we've ended up partaking in a post-funeral pub do by mistake - it was in OH's local last time. At least this time we knew the person who'd died ).

    Hi to ohwhatamess; good luck.

Wine is a very old friend but familiarity breeds contempt & I no longer treat it with the respect I show to my true friends.
In return, my true friends don't make me fat, grumpy, anxious and financially much poorer than I could be.

I just made that up, but will try & remember it!

Now technically I "owe" you 5 jokes but panic ye not, here's just the one:

There's a town called Only in America.

    Only in America!

I'll "see" you tomorrow, today isn't going to be af but neither will it be anything like the last 5 days (port? PORT? never again), & hope tomorrow will be af. I am sponsoring 2 people to do sober in October for MacMillan but don't think that counts?

Gorgeous sun here after a foggy start so am off outside - have a good rest-of-weekend all, wb x

Seriously, there's a seat for you on that wagon tomorrow. It's a date remember.:)

    Hello
I decided to Go Sober for October and help raise money for Macmillan but then decided I couldn't be bothered as I had a meal planned for Friday evening (and wanted to be able to have a glass of wine) and I'm on holiday soon and it will be no fun if I can't have a drink.

I gave up alcohol in January and raised money for Cancer Research and found after completing a whole month AF that I no longer found myself looking for a drink. Previously Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings were nearly always spent drinking booze.

Last Saturday night, we were out so Sunday I woke up hungover and Friday evening (after our meal) we stayed on at the pub and drank until closing time. It was a good night and blew the cobwebs away but yesterday I felt rough....

It was so nice to have an AF sleep last night and wake up this morning not feeling rough although I still feel tired. I like to have a drink but I don't like how it makes me feel.

I'm not going to stay AF this month completely but will endeavour to manage 25 AF days. :j

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
