  • Morning all, hope you're all well.

Just a quick catch up, shaggy please can you set my target for 15 this month, I know I only made 4 last 2 months but I'm on a mission! Plus I'm on 5/15 already so really hopeful.

Winebox, thanks for your profound words, I hope you're doing well.

HTB Newbie, I'm so sorry to ear of this horrid situation you're in through no fault of your own. This may sound mean but if your brother lives in Spain and this is what happens when he makes a quick visit here, what is happening over there? So far as I see it you've 2 choices, ignore it and let him kill himself or someone else, or take the difficult option and find a way to help, in this instance I would be calling the police. I know it sounds harsh but if he wasn't your brother what would you do? I know it'll probably mean he falls out with you but that may be a sacrifice you have to make to save him.
    Battling booze, bulge and bills.

  • Thanks for all your responses, I really appreciate it.

Just to clarify, the police are aware of the incident and were called but the poor victim does not want to press charges.

He hasn't called to see how the victim is, nor does he appear at all appalled by what he has done. He is complete denial.

We've come to the difficult decision that until such time as he recognises and seeks help, he is no longer welcome in our homes. When he is ready to seek help, we will be there for him.

    Hi HTB,
What a horrid situation. Unfortunately unless he wants help there is nothing you will be able to do except be there for him when he does want help.
My partner likes a drink. He promised to stop when we started ivf treatment. Then he promised to stop if it worked. Then promised again when the baby was born. I've begged, shouted, cried. Nothing makes a difference. The only way he will change is if he becomes seriously ill, or if something happened to BabyRwhile he is in sole charge.
Do the best you can do for the rest of your family and be ready to give support when asked. It's horrible having to stand back and watch someone you care about destroying things through drink but only they can make that change.

5/25 AFDs and, again, it's a good job there's no wine in the house. Trouble at work - that if I'd followed procedure wouldn't have happened, so I deserve it if I get a formal warning. However, as (apparently) several other people took the same action as me, I think we'll likely be warned and retrained in the procedure.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Hello all,

Don't know why I stopped posting but before I went on holiday I hadn't drank for 16 nights. On holiday to Bali I drank every day then on my return kept drinking. Anyway, tonight now marks my 6 AF night!

    Good luck all! X
