So for me, it's taken a week to flush the rubbish of alcohol and painkillers out even though tempted to take a couple of paracetamols as had a throbbing headache every day .. but it's been worth it.
I now have to be strong and stick to no drinking during the week and sensible drinking at the weekends.
Thankyou for all your support. Its good to know there are like minded people there to help when needed.
Sukeyboo, have you tried drinking a bottle of lager when out, you can make it last a fairly long time (if driving) I'm like you and don't particularly like sweet soft drinks either.
Well done maggiesoop - glad to hear you are feeling (and sleeping) better.
I do occasionally have a lager but I find it a bit 'gassy' - what I need is someone to make an alcohol-free version of Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio :T0 -
Afternoon. Thanks for all your kind words last week, needless to say I haven't had an AFD since then but it's a new week and I have a cunning plan... After realising I was a good bottle and a half - two bottles short of my usual weekly total of 5ish, I've decided I'm going to put the £25 this would cost in an envelope and that's my weekly 'pocket money'. Hopefully this will a&e me more aware of what I'm doing financially as well as physically, no harm in a 2 pronged attack! Good luck this week everyone, gien - please can you put me down for 3 on the snc again, thanks.Battling booze, bulge and bills.

Sorry to report that I succumbed to rather a lot of Pinot Grigio tonight. I was so happy to be home with DH... I took him to the pub for dinner, which included two pints for him, a pint for me, and a couple of glasses of PG when we got home.
sorry, folk, but I feel no shame given the extreme anxiety of brother and nieces health issues, plus looking after mum for a fortnight. DH wondered if I would be fit to run 5k in the morning. Yes, but who knows how long it will take???
How did you get on with your 5k run? xMorning everyone,
I am very disappointed in myself - even though I was determined not to drink on Friday night (I even went shopping specially to get some 'adult type' soft drink) I didn't manage to last past 7.30pm before succumbing to a glass of wine (which then turned in to 3 by the end of the evening).
I don't know if anyone else has the same problem but I really struggle to find a soft drink that I like - they are all far to sweet for my liking - I am a 'dry' wine/cider girl - usually the only soft drink I have when I am out and driving it slimline tonic but I can only stomach so much of that.
Oh well, I shall put this weekend behind me and start afresh - onwards and upwards
I am disappointed with myself too. I fully intended to have at least one AF day over the weekend (Fri-Sun) but it didn't happen
Tonight will be AF and will aim for tomorrow too... We will see
Well done to everyone else racking up lots of AF days for the month0 -

That's the only way sukey, just put it behind you and start the new week as you mean to carry on.
I don't really like sweet things either. if I'm in a bar and not drinking I have fizzy water. At home, I'm happier with a cup of tea!
The other thing I do is, if we're at home at weekends I make a pub/takeaway type meal on a Saturday night. So I'd rarely have curry during the week, I'd keep it for the weekend. I'm like you in that I've never managed (to be honest I haven't tried that hard:o) to substitute a drinking day in the week by being AF at the weekend. The only time it happens is if I go to the theatre or if I'm driving and I've got much better at not starting late when I get home.
Had a good weekend in Wales, not AF but not excessive. Back on the wagon tonight.
I'm going to try for 3 for the SNC again this week to give some leeway. The trouble with school holidays is that impromptu social stuff crops up.;)0 -

Fruball, I'm ashamed to say I didn't make the 5k run on Saturday - but I'm going out now for a slightly shorter 4k run. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
-
Gosh, sorry I am late with the SNC!!!
To my shame I have just had a glass of wine - difficult day at work.
I just started back after 5 years of not working, and in a new area, and I am sooo tired and stressed. I am really feeling overwhelmed.
And so a glass of rose was had, but JUST the One.
So for the SNC we have:
Gien - going for 3
Lamarsi - going for 2
maman - going for 3
Anymore???Trying to keep in budget.

Put me down for 4 for the SNC please gien
I'm a bit confused about which nights the SNC covers though. Would it be Sunday night to Thursday night?0
