Well, it is quiet here - holiday time I think. I have another AF day to report, 3 in a row which is the first time in weeks (to my shame).

I do feel good on it so far.
    Trying to keep in budget.

    Hello folks :hello:

I think I had better join you, if that is ok?

Please can you tell me how it works on here :)

Ohwhatamess, it's not 'game over'. Okay, so you had a drink when you promised yourself you wouldn't, but we've all done that (and looking through the forum, the majority of us still do!). Setting a goal is the first step :)

Thank you, as this is my guilty secret, I feel like no-one else could get this wrong. I need to stop being such a drama queen and crack on. I'm seeing having a drink as a failure instead of not having one as a success, I just need to shift my mindset.

ohwhatamess, don't worry you can try again. Does husband know what you're trying to achieve?

Yes, he does, and some days he's on board with it too, however others he's quick to convince me to have one with him. I do the same though so I can't call him for it, we just use each other to justify it. Last night though he offered and I resisted so I'm taking a bit of responsibility for myself.

Shaggy, I'm on 2/10 AFDs for August now, hopefully on a roll :o

    Hello.

I'll jump in and tell you how it works. I don't frequent here very often now but am an 'old timer'

Basically you deciede if you want to give up or cut down. There are various challenges. You may pledge that you will have say...5 AF (alcohol free) days a month. Or you may join the school night challenge (pretty self explanatory really)

You may deciede that giving up completely is what you need.

Jump on in and see what you fancy.

I'm nearly 4 years sober thanks to this thread making me realise what a lush I was!

    Hi Fru,

I'm pretty new here myself - only joined up at the end of June and haven't posted much - but everyone is very nice :)

You can post a target of how many alcohol free days (AF/AFDs) you are aiming for this month (if you want to). Shaggy will then add you to the list. You can then post as often as you want with an update on how you are doing and the list will get updated whenever Shaggy gets a chance. It's best to post these in red, as you can see from previous posts in the thread, so that they stand out. Don't worry if you are on target or not - one thing I've found here is that no-one is judgmental.

Gien also posts a School Night Challenge (SNC) which runs each week from Sunday to Thursday. If you want to you can also post a target for yourself for that challenge, but those posts should be in blue. I don't do the SNC because it doesn't suit the way I am trying to cut down.

When I first found this thread I had a quick skim through some random pages just to get a feel for it.

Anyway, welcome and I hope you get what you need from reading/posting here :)

Thank you :) I have read the last few pages to get a feel for it :)

I am going to go for 2 AFDs a week for August, then 3 AFDs Sept...

So, for August that would be 8 AFD's to aim for and anything extra is a bonus :)

I have already done 1 AFD so far. 7 left to go.

I am also going to reduce the amount I have, bit by bit, as I drink a lot :o:o:o. Only evenings, no day time drinking but still much too much.

5 AFDs to declare for August.

I did give in and drink tonight - but I'm still chuffed to bits that I managed three days AF when I had six bottles of wine in the house. I'm also watering the wine down with soda water (luuurve my SodaStream) which I'm hoping means I drink less and/or feel far less rough in the morning!

5 so far for August is good going JoolzS, well done you.:T

Welcome fruball, good to have you along. I'm a cutter-down too. I've found that over time I want less on the nights I do drink (mainly weekends). It's as if tolerance is lowered. I can't believe I used to manage a bottle+ every night of the week.:o

3 AFDs and 2 for the SNC please.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
