Someone on another diary was talking about Pimms not tasting of much else other than cucumber and mint.

That set me thinking, how about a jug of dandelion & burdock, with loads of ice, cucumber and mint, and passing it off as Pimms? Who'd know? That would be lovely and cooling, and if it was a sugar free d&b, it wouldn't be calorific, either! I think I've just had a brainwave, lol :-)

Not entirely related to what you said but at Wimbledon 2009 I saw a rather drunk well spoken chap having an angry argument with the person at the Pimms stall on the Aorangi Terrace (aka Henman Hill). The guy was angrily complaining that he was drunk and they should have told him that Pimms was an alcoholic drink when he was buying it, as he could now not drive home having drunk too much of what he thought was a non alcoholic drink. The person serving asked how he hadn't realised he was getting drunk and he said it was because he was sitting in the sun and assumed he was just getting dehydrated :rotfl:

    A rather bizarre argument.

I do Slimming World and people swear by 'Pimms' made from lemonade and balsamic vinegar. It's meant to taste very similar but calorie free. These are suggested quantities for a huge jugful:

1 2 ltr bottle diet lemonade
    2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
    strawberries, mint and cucumber slices

AFAIK you just put all the ingredients in a jug with plenty of ice and give it a good stir. Those were suggested balsamic quantities but I think you might want to adjust it to taste.

Here's a link to more precise instructions:

Thought of you today: my SIL texted me to say they were having a meal at Castellamare. What a place to be in this lovely weather. So jealous!

No bells at all tonight. It's strange how some evenings my mindset is so positive and others I have to force myself.

    8 AFDs for July.

hi maman, would like to stop altogether but would find it impossible i think, alas, gave in last night after a stressful conversation with the council tax people, woke up a 5 o'c worrying about the outcome (having to pay loads back) but felt so heady this morning actually has done me good, so am taking it a day at a time, love the drink idea will give it a try.

Al satachmo 1 will try the drink you suggested have never tried it will give it a go at the bbq this weekend.

Unexpected AF night for me. Went out for supper and DH asked if I would drive, a rare occasion. I did find it hard in the restaurant but when I got home decided it wasn't worth starting then.

    9 AFDs for July.

That's two weeks I've managed 4 weeknights. really pleased about that.:D
