Shaggy - My condolences to you.
22 AFDs out of 28 for me today.0 -
Hi all, 23 AFDs for me please
had an exam at uni today and dont feel I have had much time what with moving and being ill, but I think I did Ok. The heating company rang me today to book in to fit the new boiler! I told her we had moved out - the landlord is such a liar, when i spoke to him about doing the checkout a few days ago he pretended to be shocked that the boiler hadnt been done, but I think he would have known whether or not such a major piece of work had been done. Good riddance!

Dear Shaggy
What a terrible time for you. I have great empathy for you and think you are amazingly strong to stop at six units.
When my dad died some 23 years ago, when I was 24, I sought refuge with the bottle. He was a bit of a drinker himself and I was hurt and angry as he had left home, in bitter circumstances, 12 years earlier for another woman, and then proceeded to pass away and leave her everything. I even attended his funeral with a whiskey induced hangover. Bad times.
From the bottom of my heart I hope you are able to keep a grip on the units and we will all be 100% supportive. As you must know from the passing of your mum, time eases the pain and memories can be recalled with a quiet smile tinged with sadness rather than hot tears and an almost uncontrollable agony.
Keep posting your thoughts and feelings, ask for sympathy and understanding, look at us as a friend to whom you can bare your soul without fear of judgement. After all we are all here for the same reason - support.
With kindest regards
Slowdown:)0 -
Morning
Yesterday - particularly the morning was tough ...I waited until after 10pm last night to have a drink and I had a couple of glasses of red wine - probably about 6 units again - mostly it helps me sleep and I was so tired last night. I was quite pleased with that but will try and do better to night as I realise I have consumed 19 units in the last 4 days.
I feel better this morning than yesterday...when my mum died I can't even imagine how much I drank tbh.
I have a plan- I will try to make sure that any drinking I do is as late as possible. I'm not going to drink on the day of the funeral until last thing at night..I will stay vigilant and keep the emergency stop button with me at all times...
Thank You so much for all your kind posts. I can't tell you how glad I am that this thread exists....

Shaggy, take one day at a time, no planning as with alcohol just keep it in the day. Grief is different for everyone so just look after yourself, I feel so much for you, and the wine is making you sleep but it isn't a proper sleep but I understand why you are drinking to help you sleep. I have had quite a few bereavements recently, some close some not so close, but not my dad, if it were my dad I would probably be exactly like you. That's all I can say is even though he is no longer alive he still has your best interests at heart and so does your mum, you are still his daughter and he still loves you so don't ever think that that has changed, it is just his body that has expired, not his spirit, not his soul and not his memory. And most importantly love lasts FOREVER and is the
reason that we have children because it is a creation made from LOVE and the love we feel for our children is the most powerful ever and cannot be affected by death. You and your dad will always be close and he will never really leave your side.

Morning
My lovely Dad died last night - I drank about 6 units. I know it probably seems nuts that I'm posting this but I want to keep posting on here 'cos I'm really going to need you guys to stop me diving into a pool of alcohol...so I will be popping in and out to count up the AFDs 'cos I need to not drown my sorrows too much. When my Mum died I drank too much....
A very sad
